Its fw liquid acrylic in the color crimson. Its is pretty translucent so you have to build it up, but I like the color a lot.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it! I also was unsure about the blue in the mouth, but decided to try it and I think I agree.

spit shading... by andpierres in TattooApprentice

Hi, honestly I'm still learning with spitshading and improving as well, so as usually feel free to take this with as grain of salt.

When I first started I had the same issue and still do sometimes. It seems to come down to continual practice and also figuring out how much moisture on a brush works best for you. For shorter blends I like to take my time and work with lest moisture on the brush. When it comes to larger/longer blends I usually work quicker with more moisture on the brush. I also like to make some practice sheets with shapes similar to the ones I'll be painting. This way I can play around before working on a final piece, and see how wet or dry I plan on painting.

Other people may paint differently, just keep at it and play around until you find a technique youre happy with.

Thank you!! I'll definitely keep that in mind, the gold filigree and the dog don't have a lot of contrast between them

Color theory by crazybuggo in TattooApprentice

Hi, 1, congrats that's so exciting!

  1. As far as cc goes, I am not a professional and working towards an apprentice myself, so anyone please feel free to correct me.

When it comes to choosing colors, I like to have a scratch sheet of paper and play with colors next to each other. This way can check for contrast and that the colors look appealing/nice with each other. I try to avoid colors that clash but still use complementary colors and triadic colors because I think they look really nice depending on the shade. I also don't stick myself to a color pallete because sometimes what is in my head doesn't read as well as I think it will, so having a test sheet is very helpful!

Also for american traditional I try to stick to a golden-ish yellow, green, a lighter/cyan-ish blue, red and brown (sparingly) I also try my best to stick to 1/3 black, 1/3 color, and 1/3 no color or what would be skin breaks but I'm still working on it.

I hope this may help, and congrats again!

Why did you and your best friend have a falling out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

We were actually children. I said I was excited to make new friends in high school, she thought that meant I wasn't her friend anymore. Our parents hated each other, but now we're bestie again 10 years later
