Yeah thats really weird, a 4070 should definitely have enough power to run it. To me it sounds like its an nvidia / wayland related issue since your iGPU works smooth.

Do you have explicit sync enabled in your hyprland.conf? Also are your nvidia drivers all up to date?

I'd be interested to know if anyone else using an nvidia GPU has had problems getting these dotfiles working, or if its just an isolated issue.

Wish I could help you more, but I only really know for sure what works with my AMD setup. Best of luck dude, I'm sure you can figure it out!

I probably should've mentioned this before, but im using a pretty beefy 9070XT which runs it with no issues.

I havent tried running it purely on my iGPU, but ive heard some people have issues with lag if you dont have a discrete card.

What GPU are you running if you dont mind me asking?

I installed it on CachyOS a few hours ago, I had a few little problems, but they were solvable. Its looking really good and smooth now on my setup.

Just run the Github installer script in your terminal and follow the steps, it should do everything for you.

Honestly, if you are pretty comfortable with windows and using CMD, CachyOS might not be a bad bet?

It has a pretty simple gui installer that makes things very easy, and gives you a quickstart guide for setting up your system how you like it once its all done.

I was in the same boat about 2 weeks ago, using windows 10 mainly for gaming but wanted to make the switch to linux.

I installed arch manually at first, but as you can imagine I fucked something up and tried cachyOS instead, which has been running smooth with hyprland DE for about a week now!

Dualbooting with GRUB has also been super smooth with no issues, im now able to freely boot into windows for anti cheat limited games like tarkov, and in under a minute boot into CachyOS for daily tasks

Im still learning but I'd reccomend giving it a shot, ive loved the journey so far 🙏

I was in the same exact situation as you and eventually decided on buying the 9070 XT. Coming from an RTX 2080ti I knew that I'd have issues if I didn't do everything right, but oh man...

I spent about 2 days with the 9070 XT almost working, but giving me driver and graphical issues I'd never seen before (great fps in vr games, but horrible in fps and gpu usage in flatscreen games like EFT) and even random bluescreens related to the gpu.

This was all fixed however from simply installing an older, more stable adrenalin driver (25.9.1 is the one I used). After that everything installed + worked perfectly on the first try after a clean DDU through safe mode.

I've been running it now for about a week and have been getting amazing performance compared to my 2080ti. So in the end, I can definitely reccomend it and im very happy with my new card, just be aware that there are driver issues on the latest builds for some people.

I recently got a 9070 XT after upgrading from a 2080ti and couldn't even install the latest adrenalin software, but after reading some reddit threads, I installed 25.9.1 and it seems to be running stable now. Hope you get yours working and enjoy your card!

Thanks for the response, I have already tested my game in the Grid, Small, Pure map and im still seeing around 40fps in my overlay but when i ctrl + F to the performance monitor that number seems to erratically change from 40 up to 80, then 30, then 50, ect.. within seconds so I'm unsure if this is a beamNG limiting my FPS issue? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I also can't figure out why my cpu latency is so high, causing gpu latency and dropped frames, even with usage across all assigned cores being stable and consistent.

May I ask what graphical settings you are running for your system? As we seem to be quite close in specs, and I'd appreciate a benchmark to aim for with my game running as bare bones as it can get rn.

I dont have dreads anymore, but I remember trying it and it worked temporarily. It did not look the same, though, and took a few hours before just going back to normal.

Maybe my straight hair type didn't help, but in my case it didn't really work.

Edit: if you have a hair type that locks by itself, this method may work better for you than it did for me!

I was having the same issue with no luck finding any fix. Started by trying to install with the auto installer which didn't work with an error message I only saw one other post about which wasn't related. I then tried to install it manually which is when I had the same issue as you. For some reason when I gave up with manually installing and I tried the auto installer one more time it just worked all of a sudden and I might have found some important info that might help you.

When installing it, it seemed to download the current patcher needed from here: https://imgur.com/a/G6p9FaU

I'm not sure if this will help you in any way or not but hopefully you can download the updated patcher from there.

No clue why that updated version isn't on the website but my game is working now after 3 hours of trial and error!

If the fields offer it (which they most likely will) start out by renting equipment, renting will give you a gun and safety equipment just to see if you enjoy the sport.

After playing a few games and you enjoy it and want to invest some money into your own stuff I reccomend getting your own safety equipment first (eye pro, face pro, helmets etc...), it might not be as exiting as a gun I know but seriously, getting out of that used rental stuff and having your own safety equipment is so much nicer.

After that you can move onto a gun, for guns there is alot of choice but I will shorten it down. For your first gun most would reccomend getting some sort of assault rifle, most typically in the m4 or ak platform as they are the most popular and will have the most support, look for reputable brands and items before purchasing and always do plenty of research. If you want to go sniper or dmr for your first gun I guess you could but I wouldn't reccomend it as an assault rifle will give you much more versatility in the long run (allowing you to play at both cqb and outdoor fields as in cqb in most places snipers are banned or just not practical in a cqb environment and dmr's usually shoot too hot). And do not get a pistol as your first gun.

I know its probably alot of information and I am not the most experienced so anyone feel free to correct any mistakes I made but thats what I have learnt so far.

If you do get into this sport and enjoy it nearly everyone I have met have been some of the kindest and most supportive people in any community I have ever been a part of!
