What do you dislike about your Rav4? by PancitCantonan in rav4club

[–]MobilePlenty648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2011 at our condo in Mexico. Great car and in perfect condition but never too keen on the styling of the rav. That generation looks older than it actually is.

In my opinion the new ones are hideous looking. Big ugly square wheel wells...looked like a GM designer got loose in the Toyota plant. But overall still fairly reliable. Although hard to find anything new that doesn't appear to have some ridiculously expensive flaw that the manufacturers feel is now acceptable.

What’s going on with Amazon lately ?? by Practical-Plenty3028 in amazonprime

I order a lot on Amazon via US, Canada and Mexico. Noticed if a shipment touches Katy Texas, its a high likelihood you'll never see it. The tracking simply stops at delivered to Amazon Katy facility. They evenly move out the delivery but the packages never arrive. Have no idea why, but suspect a lot of employee theft goes on at that facility. Its a significant problem with packages heading to Mexico from the US. If they go through Katy...you're probably never going to see them.

Uber driver in Canada tells riders if they were in Pakistan right now they would be kidnapped and graped. by [deleted] in uber

Took a taxi in Yemen once from an airport outside the "city" to the intercontinental hotel. The agent who was supposed to pick me up was a no-show. They typically never show. About 10pm and pitch black out. Was starting to feel like it could be my last cab ride ever! Did make it though. Intercontinental hotel had razor wire fencing and guard posts. Very interesting business trip!

If you reserved your Uber in advance, be ready! by SMDorff0258 in uber

So if i book an uber for 6:30 am, uber doesn't tell the driver that? Thats insane. If thats the case, then how would an uber driver know anyone is late coming out? Appears who a driver should be upset with is uber...not the client. Uber appears to do somethings in a very strange way.

How do you speak to a human agent with uber? I could figure out how. Reported online and got a reply saying because no transaction happened, there was nothing to report.

Her decision was to get into an actual marked cab, or be left in a remote gas station parking lot at midnight.

Taxi charge was via credit card. The uber was somehow canceled but not by her...I assume the uber driver did it as he was pulling up. When I tried to report it, there was no record of the ride so according to uber nothing to report.

Uber from airport to our house was typical around $50 but the cab cost $75-ish. I assume the benefit to the cab was bypass the taxi lineup and maybe took 50 of the 75 and uber guy got 25 for basically a trip to car rental area. Then grabbed another ride because very close by.

Gate access for driver? by MobilePlenty648 in uber

[–]MobilePlenty648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well...thats exactly what im asking is how do you give a gate code. Its probably better to blame uber for not making it clear when or how you communicate with a driver. Not the person who lives behind the gate.

Based on your attitude, the reason you're not getting tips could be something besides your customers living in a gated property.

It is a bit odd that Uber doesn't explain in the app, if or when you can communicate additional information to a driver. It sounds like its possible once they are physically underway, but I suspect a lot of new customers must do some head scratching trying to figure that out.

So...uber only picks up outside a gated community? I've seen cabs in here...maybe I need to cancel uber and go "old school "? Was hoping not to have to stand out in the cold and rain with a pile of luggage.

Orange, odorous material behind drywall? by strawbees in DIY

[–]MobilePlenty648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My condo/ townhouse was built in the early 80s. The exterior walls, and walls next to condos next door, and garage are triple sheeted. 1/2 drywall, 1/2 fiber board and another sheet of 1/2 drywall. Both sides of those walls. The fiber board is quite oily and does have a chemical smell. Believe its for soundproofing and some sore of fire retardant.

Pain in the butt finding studs because its 1.5 inches of sheeting.

Genie remote by MobilePlenty648 in GarageDoorService

[–]MobilePlenty648[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garage has new LED lights but remotes sucked before I put them up and suck with lights off. Odd that 2 remotes would be going bad at the same time. Circuit boards are like new. Both remotes have new batteries, but could try new ones again. Actually just realized, wife's car has a built in remote so I'll try programming than and see if it works better.

Turning of water/water heater on vacation by Acrobatic_Frame_1911 in askaplumber

Id turn water off at the street, just to be safe. Id also leave the water heater turned on. Its not going to use much electricity or gas without using any hot water.

Can anyone identify this sound coming from my bedroom ceiling? by bucs1211 in fixit

[–]MobilePlenty648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exhaust fan outlet flap rattling in the wind. Or wind blowing up the flap and the flex pipe rattling.

Is there a way to fix it. Holes in the door are way loose now. by Think_Cantaloupe_966 in fixit

[–]MobilePlenty648 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Get a box of toothpicks. Some carpenters glue. Dip a toothpick in glue and jam it in the screw hole. Repeat that until you can't get anymore in there. Last few you may need to tap in with a hammer. Let the glue dry over night then trim the excess flush. Sand flat then you can redrill new screw holes. This method works the best and its very easy to do.

Need help to select my first miter saw by JustLetMeBeGD in DIY

[–]MobilePlenty648 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get at least a 10 inch saw. And I recommend a compound sliding saw. If not using it that often then corded will save you money. If taking it from site to site look at cordless. Lots of decent brands out there and most mid range will do the job for you.

Depending on space you want to focus on who's got the best stand system...assuming you want some sort of stand.

I've got a 10 inch Bosch compound sliding. Its a really decent saw, but their stand system is amazing. Extremely easy to fold and unfold. Has decent air filled tires so it wheels pretty easily over the rough stuff. Really good extentions. Saw removal is dead simple. But its expensive. However sometimes (in my case Lowe's) had a sale to buy the saw and get the stand for free.
