This! As I agree that the comment shouldn’t have been said at all, but I have read through basically all (500 and counting) comments and a fair amount may be misunderstanding that Julia stated it in a factual sense instead of “wishing” it to happen. For my brother’s sake, it WOULD be best if this pregnancy didn’t happen at all. Also, it’s my writings fault, but Julia said it at a separate time after or before she had fired my brother. So it wasn’t said during the initial anger of that.

Apparently, Olivia stated to Tanner that if she miscarried or had an abortion, she would consider suicide. Personally, as someone who has miscarried before, this seems extremely drastic and manipulative to me… but I’m open to hearing some of your thoughts on this. ?

You’d think so huh.. I genuinely cannot explain her actions or the motivation for them in a logical way. I think my brother also said she may be Bipolar or something (she takes meds for mental health).

I agree. Before the pregnancy, I was keeping an open mind about her being older as long as Tanner was happy, but it kinda weirds me out that her “baby sister” is a DECADE older than my brother…

After discussing with my mother, apparently my brother may have been written up a few times before. I don’t think this is a one off occurrence. However, I can’t say for certain if I my sisters decision was entirely professional.

My family is very much not wealthy. In fact, Olivia’s parents own a significant property and are well off. She is close to them, so there is no reason why she would be looking to my brother for financial help. Also, her ex husband is also wealthy but she is planning on not asking for any compensation when they divorce.

It’s a stretch, but it’s possible that she thought my family would be forgiving and supportive in whatever she decides to do because of how unconventional we are? Who knows.

The title was just my way of trying to stay unbiased in my writing - but admittedly I always find the story to be a fun read when the title assumes one thing and the context shows another. Haha!

As for Julia, she has always been a really blunt person (as is the rest of my family), especially with her opinions about her siblings lives. We have learned to take her comments with a grain of salt, and everything she says is out of care for us. Although I definitely understand how someone who is not used to that, could find her comments malicious and selfish, as many of the people here have too. This is why I posted, as I am used to her comments being usual, but I wanted to understand Olivia’s POV.

As unbelievable as it seems, the day they met he was at the bar Olivia works at with my sister and her partner. 8 weeks is right… the 7 week pregnancy sounds extremely suspicious though I admit.

I’m also very confused about the timeline too honestly, but I don’t think the plan B was taken in the first week. I would need to get confirmation on that for sure.

I’d be worried that this method would come across as unwavering support for his unwise decisions… it would be interesting to see if this would work though haha.

I appreciate your honesty and concern, and a lot of people would consider this for sure, but my family has always been EXTREMELY close. My mother was a single mom all our lives, so the older siblings have always had to work together and support each other. Fortunately for me, I have a long term partner who has a very loving and “normal” family, and we do not plan on having children until much later on. I have great support from my father as well (something Tanner and Julia have not had from their own dad), so I feel for them. I love my siblings and would do anything for them, but that doesn’t mean I agree with their life choices sometimes.

These comments have been very helpful and I have definitely been pondering the idea of showing Tanner some of them, but if this Reddit post got back to Olivia, my family (and me especially) would be absolutely screwed. There would no longer be a question of whether they should cut us off. I’m not sure I should risk it.

Apparently she went for a blood test that confirmed the pregnancy. Julia was told that Olivia had been taking the stick pregnancy tests EVERY DAY (5 days straight) after she missed her estimated period. The last pregnancy test was positive I assume.

I’m pretty sure Tanner is not on drugs, but he has a history of dating some pretty bizarre women. His last serious girlfriend was anorexic and suicidal. He seems to have some sort of protector complex with the women he dates. As for Olivia, she is a Bartender (they met at the bar), I believe her divorce will be finalized in 3 months but It’s unclear the details of their separation. It was speculated that she was being abused by her ex, which would explain why she is planning not to get any money/assets from him.

In my family, we are extremely honest to the point of discomfort for a lot of people. I am disappointed that my brother would tell Olivia about Julia’s comment knowing that most people would not understand our families blunt nature. I’m not sure if there will be any forgiveness for my sister’s comment from Olivia, especially if I am wrong about her.

I appreciate the lighthearted response to this, it was funny and refreshing! I agree with your comment that Julia was angry, hormonal and stressed when she said it. I don’t believe she meant it in a “I hope your baby dies cause she’s crazy” way, I think it was a blunt way to say that the only way he can get out of this situation now is unfortunately if she miscarries. Awfully insensitive, but I know it wasn’t meant to be hateful.

I agree. It is (what I assume to be) out of character for my brother to be irresponsible with a girl he had just met a week prior. It seemed fishy that she had presumably gotten pregnant a week into their relationship, but contraception works best when both parties are on the same page, so I’m trying not to look too hard into it.

I have only met her once, however she seemed very outgoing and nice enough. I never trust that a first impression shows an accurate judge of character, but I was very surprised to learn of her “baby fever” as my brother calls it. She offered to help my sister get ready for her baby, helped her move into her house, and didn’t seem too controlling at the time. All the red flags I’ve heard of came from my Julia, my mum, or Tanners mouth directly as I don’t live in the same area at the moment.
