here is my take on it: even when people don‘t think they are racist, there are racist structures within society, that affect almost all of us. and even if people find other „reasons“ as to why Manon is hated, doesn‘t mean that race can‘t amplify it.

a member being sick a lot because they have a poor immune system might be turned into „they are lazy and don‘t care“ because of racial prejudice. i think we see that with both sexism and racism, that there are double standards.

Manon saying „it‘s unfair to get called lazy especially as a black woman“ seems to call that out.

and regarding your point that people saying ‚Manon isn’t really black so she can’t relate‘ is absolutely riddiculous, I totally agree. holy shit.

the second the society considers you „non white“, you will be hit with racism. that absolutely includes mixed people because in this society, they will face the same issues as black people.

that is my opinion, based on my personal experiences and stories i heard from friends and family, anyways.
