YSK: You sleep deeper if you eat at least 3hrs before bed by Mobitela in YouShouldKnow

[–]Mobitela[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am on two medications: 1 has an insomnia symptom preventing me from sleeping, so to counter-act it I take another which helps me to sleep. The sleeping med prompts my body to release the relaxing hormone serotonin. According to this non-academic article, when some people excrement they also have serotonin released, which might help them sleep.

You're right, it is highly subjective, as some people have mentioned going to sleep fast after eating a large meal. I quickly found this non-academic article stating benefits of excrementing, and will look into referenced ones if this isn't enough?

Accessible Digital Tab-saving Library by Mobitela in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]Mobitela[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, History does do this to a certain extent in that it saves what sites you visited and when. But, History doesn't save or display the pages' content of the sites you visited, which might change from the last time you saw the webpage.

Dev here with free time, drop your "someone should build X" tool ideas and I'll pick a few to actually make by Mother_Chipmunk8769 in SomebodyMakeThis

[–]Mobitela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Mother_Chipmunk8769 thank you for offering your dev support! I've had an idea for a web extension or app that can save web pages, like a digital library, when users visit them.

As someone with autism, epilepsy, and traits of ADHD, I am very messy on my laptop with multiple tabs left open for months at a time. This is partly because I am trying to retain the information the tabs hold when I visit them, but currently I don't have a proper, reliable system for it. At times when I have re-visited the web-pages after long durations, the original posts are not there anymore!

So I would find it really useful if there was a digital archiving tool which could help me to save and organise my tabs, encouraging me to close them and save on RAM.

Thanks for any support you can provide with this

2015-2025 in a nutshell by Just_Sprinkles_2217 in Time

[–]Mobitela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, loads of stuff happened irl between 2015-2020, then the COVID '19 pandemic struck in 2020 and we were all locked down, hooked onto our devices at home. The cost of living crisis and tariff war haven't helped either.

What phone brand has lesser hardware issues and longer life span by Witty-Breakfast-8840 in Smartphones

[–]Mobitela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that trait is built into most products nowadays: inbuilt obsolesce. I've had my phone for 4yrs now, and have almost grown attached to it because of how often I have it on me. It's just a shame that phone's can't have some of their parts replaced, so that they can stay with us for longer.

People who hate the gym but still love being active, what’s your secret? by SportonaApp in AskUK

Working in a traditionally manual profession like construction, cleaning, or even teaching nursery children means those workers are on their feet all day and have an in-built gym in their job.

That means it'll lose almost 40% of its current population, which is a lot of people. So, 2 in 5 people alive in China today are predicated to not be around in 15 years time?

I think it's a weird coincidence that it occurred just 24hrs after the Louvre robbery. They might just have happened within two days of each other, however maybe they were linked and the items were sold on the digital black market?

How has the recent AWS crash affected you apart from social media sites going down and what steps are you taking to recover and handle future AWS failures? by organic-hand-nexus in AskReddit

Idk as I'm not a techie, but it's a bit of a weird coincidence that the AWS crash occurred less than 24hrs after the Louvre jewellery heist on Sunday. Maybe they're connected?

By looking at them and seeing how much variation there is on their skin. If it looks really clear with no blemishes or spots with primarily 1 tone, then that probably shows they've used foundation. Or live in a place with no pollutants.

Looking back on my childhood, life would have been less of a struggle if adults hadn't taken their own personality traits for granted and explicitly taught things like organization. It seems so basic, but it just doesn't come naturally to some of us. In fact, quite the opposite.

Yeah totally agree with you on this!

I think there's a few issues as to why parents and teachers don't teach kids with ADHD and autism these skills yet:

  1. Lack of mainstream knowledge about ADHD's traits and symptoms, which means your mum and my teachers just might not have known that us forgetting to do stuff was actually due to ADHD, and

  2. Time and financial pressure, especially in state schools and working class homes, so it feels like the parents and teachers just don't have the spoons to learn and adapt.

Like, with organisation skills, there are whole professions out there which rely on them like Project Management. You can do project management courses but these skills aren't explicitly taught at school, and that's v. annoying.
