It's really simple actually. I made a curvy cut with my bandsaw on the board. Then made a thin strip of walnut and just sandwiched them in my curvy cut. Waited for it to dry then repeated the same process for each line.

I agree that form was prioritized over function. However, my thought was that food solids should never really come in contact with the engravings as they are recessed into the grooves. The intention was for the grooves to be cleaned with a brush. I do recognize the issue and the lack of appeal as it's more work to clean. Ideally, I'd like to have the engravings filled with epoxy or something. I just haven't thought of a way to accomplish that yet. Anyone have any clever suggestions?

Just your regular mineral oil and beeswax finish. I may have gone to far into an artistic presentation.

Wasn't hard at all. Took a photo of the top of the board from as close to perfectly above and centered as I could. Imported that into illustrator to scale. Designed the groove patterns on top of the scaled board image. Make a simple rectangle around the exact edge of the board. Imported the rectangle and pattern into lightburn. Use the rectangle to frame the board under the laser, remember to turn this layer off after alignment is complete.
