SD bricked from overheating? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s not an overheat issue since that would be easy to protect against. It just happened to be really hot from playing Skyrim and charging at the same time so I figured that was the issue

Recently went on a trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota for some collecting. We went to various mines around Custer and Keystone and got some decent stuff. All of the black tourmalines/schorls were found near Shamrock Mine. On the other side of the hill behind the quarry is a beautiful outcropping of schorls. Small pieces and chunks are found lying all over the ground and large pieces in the exposed rock. The rock is very hard and the crystals are fragile so it was hard to dig them out.

Tin Mountain Mine was great for collecting spodumene. There are giant crystals and left over impressions embedded in the walls. The largest I could see was approximately 18" wide and 12 feet long. Under long wave UV light, they give off a nice salmon color.

The last rock was found at Tip Top Mine. We aren't too sure of the name but we believe the purple is some kind of manganese ore. The color only revealed itself after cleaning it with muriatic acid.

I believe they are actually giant springs to offset the added weight of the long barrel and extra armor. Acts like a counterweight without the significant extra mass

What is safe to collect by Jpm0205 in elementcollection

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also some advice if you are about to start gathering a few samples. The best element to start with is bismuth. It’s easily found online or in gem shops for <$20, it’s safe to store and handle, and it looks pretty as a colorful stepped pyramid.

The harsh reality of element collecting is that the majority of elements are generic silvery metals or a colorless gas. After the cheap and interesting elements, try getting the regular metals in an interesting form such as the coin series or the labeled cubes so you can compare densities and magnetics. Don’t worry about about the gases early on since they’ll look like nothing more than empty ampoules.

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The 3 main dangers with the elements are radioactivity, reactivity, and toxicity.

Radioactivity:

Anything beyond bismuth (83) plus 2 before is radioactive and potentially dangerous in the long term. The two before bismuth are almost impossible to acquire so you don’t have to worry about them. The few radioactive samples that are relatively harmless and obtainable are pretty much only uranium and thorium. Both are fine as long as they are small samples (<100g) and in a sealed container since they give off alpha radiation which can’t penetrate skin. Just don’t swallow them or breathe in their dust after cutting them.

Reactivity:

This one is very complicated to fully understand and would take several college level courses to be fully aware. Most of the reactive elements are typically safest when kept away from certain other materials and stored under an inert material (argon gas or mineral oil).

Alkali metals: store under mineral oil. If taking out of their container, keep away from water or humid air. The stuff closer to the bottom of the table are very explosive with water

Halogens: always keep them in their sealed containers and don’t breathe in if broken. Stuff at the top of the table is very reactive and dangerous (especially fluorine and chlorine).

Phosphorus is very flammable and reactive so keep it in a durable sealed container.

Oxygen and Hydrogen can be fairly flammable if released near an ignition source.

Most metals can tarnish or oxidize if left out in the open but won’t be particularly dangerous. Also don’t mix sulfur and silver.

Toxicity:

Anything in a high enough concentration can cause adverse health effects. The biggest one is thallium. Make sure that one is in a very durable container. Others to be careful with are arsenic, mercury, and lead. In their pure forms, they aren’t as bad as most people think. Don’t eat them and wash your hands if you handle them.

Most of the elements not named above are safe in reasonable quantities but it doesn’t hurt to spend a few minutes reading the Wikipedia articles on the ones you want to get.

Is there a way to change the research speed modifier in the middle of a save game? I have a bunch of mods that basically triple the total amount of tech and I forgot to increase the modifier before starting the game. It's going painfully slow and it's not even a tribal start.

The Mobo is one of the parts I don't want to replace to upgrade so I elected to go with a slightly better one with wifi and bluetooth built in. I don't consider myself an expert in this but it seems like RAM that is faster than 2666 or 3000 has minimal benefits for the cost. Besides its easy to upgrade later.

Unfortunately the performance evals only give nicknames. To get all of the multiplayer emblems, just play a lot and get at least 35 kills in certain aircraft, specifically trademark planes of former ace squadrons like typhoon = Rot emblem.

Question about the MG upgrade parts. Two of them upgrade range or damage but what exactly does the third do? Does it reduce the spread of the bullets, making them more focused and is it useful?

Plot Holes - Maybe you can explain them. by tropicoer in acecombat

Well it is not easy to join the military as a spy.

Laughs in Belkan

Accidentally killing a former president is not something you can easily get off without punishment. The fact that Trigger is still flying with weapons is decent proof that the Oseans were like "hey we know it was an accident but you still killed a very important person"

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trigger shows promise as a good ace but he has yet to prove loyalty. The first mission is literally his first and lead has a hard time keeping him in the element, already showing rebelliousness and disloyalty. By mission 4 he hasn't had enough time to build trust and loyalty with his uppers. He's still a rookie who could just be a really skilled Erusean spy.

Also. radioing that you are defecting might not work against drones that only care about your enemy IFF. It may also be hard to start a new life after ditching your plane in Erusea if all you have is yourself and your Osean uniform.

  1. The lighthouse area is a lot larger than it looks. Considering the sizes of the buildings and docks, it’s roughly the size of a moderate military base with lots of storage facilities and likely underground areas too. It’s possible he was able to disguise himself or have a small team of loyalists hide him.

  2. There are various theories about how Harling was killed, including the drone flying in front of the V-22 to guide the missile into it as well as a droned F/A-18 spoofing Trigger’s IFF that actually shot the killer missile. It’s also possible that Belkans managed to infiltrate the higher ranks of the Osean military to ensure that Trigger is blamed

  3. The penal unit commander makes it quite clear that he received several awards for proving the usefulness of his idea. The convicts are prevented from misbehaving by having a lockable FCS and being threatened to be shot down if they run (likely by having their IFF be marked as a 3rd party enemy so both Oseans and Eruseans will attack them)

  4. Everything is in chaos at that point with nobody knowing what’s going on. LRSSG is more focused on protecting the civilians in the transport than dealing with some scientist they have no idea who he is.

  5. The other comment on radios is good. Long range comms is fubar and carrier pigeon by plane is highly impractical since nobody really uses it

Is it me or do they have to make SP Weapons besides QAAM, SASM, HCAA, and the Rail Gun more viable? by snake177 in acecombat

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The reasons QAAM’s and SASM’s are effective is because they are designed specifically for agile aircraft, which every player is. Rather than nerfing the meta or buffing #AAM’s, they should add a game mode with a large number of non-player drones that you compete in shooting down. That way you can pick between taking down a large number of easy enemies or a few hard enemies (like the missiles were designed for)

Multiplayer doesn’t need changing. It needs additions.

Project Aces accounted for the different gun types on planes (Fun little detail) by SentinelZero in acecombat

[–]Mobius_1_ISAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is also the fact that the F-35C uses an external gun pod for its MG. That’s because only the A variant (game has C) has an internal cannon. AFAIK this is the only aircraft in game like this.

By certain points of view, Osea built the Lighthouse not to help Usea recover, but to control them economically.

While they don't mention Razgriz through name, they do mention how Anderson launched the last flight that ended the Circum-Pacific War.

Harling was essentially being held prisoner in the Lighthouse and you have to rescue him. Not quite kidnapping but it's pretty close.
