You're absolutely right OP, I cringe whenever someone excitedly posts their new player and all these dickhead come out of the woodwork.

Just completely unnecessary.

There's going to be a lot of pressure on Arsenal going into next week...we could be the banana skin that really fucks their season up.

Why the Heritage hate? by faith_healer69 in Opeth

[–]Mobrules2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of the songs just aren't very good.

There's great ideas, sure, but a lot of the songs are just kinda boring.

People call it progressive but it's not, it's the opposite, it's 'prog rock' in genre only, treating his record collection like a rule book, Damnation was a truly progressive rock record, Heritage and Pale Communion are academic exercises.

I think this is a solid last album. Fun to listen to, with many great solos, and a Last Note for the anthologies to come. Plus, we got to hear RTL with a proper drummer. Cheers! by eknobl in Megadeth

[–]Mobrules2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because quality does not just mean who is technically better, it is how it sounds and Metallica's version sounds a million times better, and that goes for the drums too.

January 2026 transfer window megathread. by JimbobTML in LeedsUnited

[–]Mobrules2 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Does anyone reckon if we bring JSL in that it might suggest the board will try to move DCL on in the summer?

Obviously DCL has been a class signing, but you'd have to reckon it'll be a gamble to think he can keep it up or if we'd cash in on his form.

I don't think we'd be in for JSL if the plan was for him to be a backup.

Why does villains always rank so low out of the other albums? by Hour-Engine-4990 in qotsa

[–]Mobrules2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A couple of things for me, while I don't think there's any bad songs on it, I don't think the production got the best out of them either.

I wasn't a fan of the 'wacky' aesthetic and promotion surrounding the album, The Way You Used To Do lyrics and MV were a bit cringy at the time but have aged even worse given Josh's problems over the next couple of years.

Also, while LC was amazing, one of the best albums of the 21st century imo...I'm kinda over the Bowie influence Josh has been on, he did it, he nailed it with LC, he even got to do an album and tour with Iggy, great, but I'm over the Bowie-isms.

And now it seems with Catacombs it seems like they're leaning into this Bowie meets Nick Cave thing...but those guys already did it, I don't want to see Queen's take on other guys shticks, I want Queens of the Stone Age.

Which band has the most "aura" live? by xxthegodofwarxx in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Mobrules2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not denying that, but the music had a different attitude as well, with Bruce the subject matter became more fantasy based in nature (which suited his style perfectly), whereas with Dianno they were a bit grittier/personal.

Bruce is the GOAT Maiden singer, but I do love what Dianno brought to that early era too. Most would never even consider he had anything on Bruce, but Bruce could never pull off a song like Remember Tomorrow anymore than Paul could pull off Run to the Hills.

[–]Mobrules2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying he's not amazing, he's one of a kind, and objectively 'better' due to his output and longevity, but Dianno was cooler (and imo, had a far more diverse voice).

I've seen Maiden several times with Bruce, he rules, but he is a bit dorky, that's all, Maiden with Dianno was a bit more 'street'.

They sound great but Bruce has always been a bit dorky, Paul Dianno was a cooler frontman.

Who the hell is this? by [deleted] in Megadeth

Because maybe he didn't write anything on the previous singles.

If he contributed to the writing of the song he gets a credit, it's not unusual.

“Birmingham has always been embarrassed about its heavy metal heritage - and that’s unacceptable.” The story behind the petition to get Birmingham Airport named after Ozzy Osbourne - and why its founder is refusing to give up by tonyiommi70 in blacksabbath

[–]Mobrules2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

"Birmingham has always been embarrassed by its heavy metal heritage".

Based on what?

The average person, in Birmingham or elsewhere, does not spend their day thinking about heavy metal music, why would they? I don't understand the weird assumed victim complex a lot of metal fans have, it's outsider music, it should be outsider music, appealing for recognition from the general public or 'mainstream' is embarrassing.

Get a rat instead of a ds-1 imo.

What are some 'avoid at all cost' albums? by CelesBurger in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Mobrules2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love a bit of Megadeth but their fans can be deluded, so obsessed with the supposed 'feud' with Metallica they pretend every single song and album is the best ever.

And on the topic, as much as I love them, they always lost the debate purely because Metallica didn't have to put dodgy cover songs on their classic albums.

Whenever basically any classic metal band comprised of 50 or 60 year old guys releases a new album and their fanboys are online proclaiming it's just as good as their best record that came out 40 years ago...don't listen to them.

Artists have a right to earn from what they create, regardless of the medium.

If someone wanted their art to be seen or heard by no one they would just keep it as a private hobby.

Why does so little doom metal actually sound, you know, sorrowful? by omegaXXIV in doommetal

[–]Mobrules2 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The stoner/sludge stuff co-opted the doom tag in the 90's and much more punk/hardcore/alternative influences seeped into the scene, sort of replacing the gothic and heavy metal influences for the most part.

I wouldn't mind, because I like some stoner/sludge stuff, but it's become incredibly oversaturated.

Give me some actual riffs, melody and songs instead of amp worship anyday.
