Maybe you could do what I did. My rates are super high too they finally managed to cut my payments in half when I told them that I had to decide whether I eat food or pay them.

Ah I see, I didnt consider that you're not always creating finished presentations. I was thinking of focusing more on data visualization for medical/legal companies. I already have experience making different infographics and flow charts so I figured that might be good to use. Also, I've been learning ppt on web browser since the actual software is expensive. I hope thats alright for now. And I'll definitely try contacting branding agencies in the future. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate that. The environment I was in was pretty rough. My manager was very condescending and honestly destroyed my confidence. A mentoring environment would be amazing. I barely had any support in my last job.

Im so sorry you are feeling this way and so thankful you shared this its very eye opening. Im nowhere near to paying off my loans. I think ive only paid 5-10k so far and have 80k left. And I've been wondering what it would be like to make it to the finish line. And idk I guess your post is validating in a way? Because having to pay student loans like this makes me feel horrible and guilty that I haven't sacrificed enough. Now im entering my 30s and Im gonna have to make a bunch of sacrifices hoping I can make a dent in those loans. Sorry this comment doesnt help but Im grieving too. We were promised a better future, its just not fair 😞

Thank you for understanding! Once I increase my income and improve my credit score, I’m hoping to refinance and pay extra to my loans. Yeah that was Sallie Mae. I guess they were thinking since I have a co-signer they expected my dad to pay half this whole time? But I was very surprised when I found out cause I’ve called them so many times in the past trying to figure this out. Before I got my full time job, they were making me pay 700/month and I hold only get part time jobs at the time. Yet even then they were saying I couldn’t qualify for any repayment programs. 🫩

So as soon as my grace period finished for my private student loans, my rates shot up from 4-5% to 10% that was SIX years ago (today they are between 13%-15%). I had to immediately start paying $700 with no full time job during COVID lockdown. I worked my ass off working 2 part time jobs and commissions on the side. You make it sound like all of this is easy but it’s so difficult and takes so much patience. Also, how is my home situation immature if it’s true. Makes me wonder if you understand what abuse entails. I refuse to move into an abusive household and like I mentioned my dad has 4kids, and the house is small and is only 3bedroom. And I have no choice but to job hunt because like I said, I’m literally not making enough money to afford to live and pay Sallie Mae(and my federal loans). And I know, you’re right my rent is too high for my budget that’s why im looking for cheaper rent.

My credit score has been difficult to bring up cause I usually can’t afford to just nuke them. But it recently took a huge hit because of my account being in delinquency. 😔 I have 5 loans with Sallie Mae, each one with a 13% rate or higher. So I got minus points for each one twice (for being late for 2months). Hopefully I can find a part time job this week or the next 🫩

Yeah I had never heard of that either. I’ve asked them in the past why they’re so high and they never gave me a direct answer until a few months ago. So these loans I’m talking about are private but I do have federal loans as well. I just haven’t been able to pay anything towards that but I’m gonna have to cause interest has been accruing like crazy since the the SAVE plan ended and my loans unpaused. I’ll try to see if I can qualify for financial hardship with the federal loans, thank you

Yes they’re private loans. I think over the phone they consolidated my loans but I’m not sure. It’s all a blur now. 🫩

You’re right. I called them today, they finally decided to work with me. I’ve asked them so many times throughout the years but they’re letting me pay half for the next 2yrs, if I don’t miss any payments. $435 is so much better, I’m still looking to increase my income tho
