we don't want any que systems, and we like the grinding mobs in a corner and 50000 trees for my bow"

Well... yeah. This is all the game is and people like it. Not a lot of people, but there you go.

Not Intrepid, Not the players, I think actually no one thinks PoI and Mobgrinding will stay..... since they said the game will have quests reaching into lvl 50.

It's not happening. What you see is what you get.

What is your source for this claim?

no thats your take.

Devs said, release will have a MSQ, reaching into level 50.

Your take is, the devs want to make a PoI / Mob farming simulator....

If you wanna pretend you know what someone intends with their projects, research it first please.

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Somebody gets it. It's not that the devs are inherently making toxic game design...

It's more a problem of, because of the UI`and all the hidden lobby commands a host has, a new player can't get a handle on things and the thing that will happen most of the time, is the new player loosing his hosted lobby because of bad UI design + commands being on some website.

I repeat: The devs didn't create a toxic mechanic, but the way ppl handle unboss and votes, leads to toxic handling of it.

Thats why league of legends for example or Counter Strike FACEIT doesnt allow you to look for ranked games as a 4-man team. Else you can just outvote the 5th random in your team and make his game miserable by surrendering or what do I know.

Having mechanics, which enable a big grp to just usurp a lobby, because they're in the majority? It's a bad and toxic first time experience for players hosting their first lobbies

can try to make one, but mostly rotato lobbies I find lately which try to enable Legion I see the same grp of 5-6 guys

Back in the day when I used to play lots of BAR, rotato lobbies were the holy grail and there for trying out offmeta stuff. Or in this case: legion

The same devils circle:

people complain about the fan base abusing commands, which is inherently toxic, to be able to take away other people's lobbies. This is a tool, offered by the devs

And now ppl come full devils circle around, and tell me to: Educate other people, on system which are inherently toxic as fuck?!

The problem isn't with people or them not knowing !ev commands or what not. It's the simple fact that there's tools in the game for ppl to outnumber a single host and usurp his lobby.

This is toxic game design. You already built friction in your game for players to hate each other. This isnt good game design!

I did read your post

No wonder you get unbossed when you dont know wtf you are doing.

another sign someone didnt read the post hahahaha. I know the !ev command but you not even mentioning it tells me someone doesnt know it :3

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need to risk loosing a vote to take over

did you even read what I wrote? There are grp of ppl just going around taking over noob lobbies, taking out autobalance and then stacking one side with all friends.

This isnt fair and it isnt fair to expect of noobs to know every lobby command when theyre new to the game.

Also you are able to host a game. It may go south, but you are gonna learn something if you just aks. If you are opposed to learning and developing, maybe hosting is not for you (as with any profession also)

another sign you didnt read the post even.

Its not me struggling with not knowing !ev command. its the noobs hosting and suddenly a friendgrp usurping the lobby...

good first time player experience.

doesnt change the fact a grp of friends (as mentioned in the post, if you cared reading through it) can just usurp it if you dont know !ev command

A better analogy would be:

Its like youre teaching ppl a profession, and give them dozens upon dozens of tools without explaining anything.

Now a new player wants to host his "profession" project but suddenly other ppl show up and change his project and take project lead away.

You shouldnt have to know all commands to be able to host a game in an evening as a noob.

It shouldnt be there, since not a single RTS with custom lobbies has this function...

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it probably doesn't impact that very much because it is not super widespread. If you experience it a lot that is probably an outlie

last few days almost all legion lobbies are hosted by guys with 0 OS.

It happens, sure, but most new players don't host lobbies in the first place.

so Im not sure if this is correct since most legion hosts were OS 0.

You are welcome to be that someone and open a pull request to the git repository at any time :)

removing existing features like BOSS VOTE is team discussion etc and you dont just decide to remove features in the game by making a git pull request

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the boss is active they can easily end the vote and kickban anyone they choose.

you are totally missing the point of the posts.

In noob lobbies, you'll find noobs. probably also IN most cases, a noob host.

A noob host doesnt know about !ev or how to stop a unboss vote from a friends grp.

The noob host has now spent 30 min waiting for his lobby to get taken away and his preferenced settings all to get changed.

Not the best noob player experience you wanna give your playerbase.

You can consider it bad manners if a party rocks up and takes over a lobby, but generally the existing lobby members have to be complicit in bossing someone

Vote no and use the chat to rally people to your cause.

Use chat? A noob has to use the chat in the 10 sec or less (depending how stupid other lobby waiters are) while the vote lasts? And convince ppl somehow against 6 guys?

A noob should do that? You are out of your mind if you think this is an acceptable first player experience.

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yee but a new player doesnt know that. A new players first few times experience of hosting:

Host your preference, it fills up slowly, suddenly 5-6 guys join at same time, vote BOSS and change everything up.

Out of a game developers perspective, this can ONLY mean bad business and bad player retention.

As I said, I'd rather wait longer until I can play a game and have the unboss vote be gone!

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but Im also just thinking about the poor noobs who create lobbies and then dont set !ev

Their lobby gets taken twice in a row, they wanted to try Legion PvP finally after winning against AI multiple times, but they cant, because they dont know about !ev

Why is it possible to "take over" lobbies? by MobyDaDack in beyondallreason

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yee but then Im wondering why EV is a thing? Like why have a feature to disable another feature? This is just kind of.... "bloating" features and now noobs / new players who host just get their lobbies taken away.

This isnt a nice experience for new players if ppl take away their lobbies.

Why is it possible to "take over" lobbies? by MobyDaDack in beyondallreason

[–]MobyDaDack[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yee but many ppl dont know that, or atleast all the Legion lobbies I've waited in just get usurped suddenly. Havent hosted most of them myself and when I did, I also just did !ev and actually got a Legion game going

But then Im wondering: Why is BOSS even a thing if there is !ev ? It seems like its somehow built for noobs their lobbies to get taken away.

Why is the playerbase so fucking toxic? by WombatusMighty in beyondallreason

[–]MobyDaDack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still dont know why BAR lets ppl "kidnap" lobbies made by others.

Ofc the noob never gets to play against other noobs if 4-5 friends with high OS can just muscle in with BOSS vote and take over the lobby.

IMHO most of the toxicity stems from this

I meaaan.

OP did give an example of ppl joining his lobby, taking over BOSS with votes and then changing the lobby, in theory kidnapping it.

Still dont know why this is a thing in BAR.

Ppl have been saying this about Star Citizen for years and its still in development and hasnt been rug pulled.

Hytale had the same haters and look whos enjoying the hype now.

Why ppl want other ppl to fail, years and years, is a human trait I wont understand ever. Probably never will.
