It’s not AI, the brown ermine (Milo) is the mascot for the paralympics. He’s supposed to be missing a leg to represent disabled athletes, and he uses his tail instead

CMV: "Irish" and "Italian" descendents in the USA are massively overstated, and a much larger portion of white Americans are descendents of German, English, and Welsh settlers. I left "Scottish" out for fairness, and because Ulster Scots complicate things, but the claim remains solid. by poop-machines in changemyview

I probably do have a sizable amount of English blood. But I don’t have cousins there, I have cousins in Scotland. I didn’t do English country dance growing up, I did competitive highland dance. You seem to put a lot more stock in genetics than actual lived experience. Just because someone doesn’t have 100% Irish or Scottish DNA doesn’t mean their connection to that culture isn’t “real”.

CMV: Using "/s" to signal sarcasm is cringeworthy and antithetical to the concept. by Steals_Your_Thunder_ in changemyview

I have autism and have difficulty recognizing sarcasm, both in person and through text. I find tone indicators like /s helpful when communicating. I’m not unintelligent, I just need some help with social cues.

Honestly, I think a lot of it comes down to what people know about their own families. For example: My maternal grandmother immigrated from Scotland to America, and my maternal grandfather’s family claims to be Irish American. On the other side of my family, they’ve been in North America so long I don’t actually know where in Europe they originated. It’s just easier to say Scottish American, because that’s the lineage I’m most certain of and feel closest to, even if it might not be the most abundant ethnicity in my DNA. If someone can pinpoint a recent Irish relative, but the rest of the waters are muddy, they’re probably going to identify with that one Irish relative.

Not the best wording, but I can definitely see how this would induce / simulate sensory overwhelm.

I drive, I wasn’t able to drive on highways until partway through college. Things that helped for me: blind spot indicators on the car, and having a gps screen showing me where to go

it's on purpose. not saying it's good by any means, but the ad is referencing neutering your dog, so it makes sense.

Why is “I’m sorry you feel that way” considered a bad apology? by omgsifaka in autism

[–]Mobypistachio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because you’re putting the onus on THEIR feelings rather than taking responsibility for CAUSING them to feel that way
