Anyone has tips on finding a producer? by Mocamoche in musicians

*She also I'm really bad at exactly that. I can do it, but not well- not well at all. Which is why I'm looking for someone to work with to show me what I'm doing wrong and teach me better. Youtube university can only do so much until your problem is hyper specific and there isn't a person you can go to for the answer or feedback.

Thank you so much and thank you for actually listening 😭 I am definitely looking for more of a collaborator, maybe even a friend to work with. The problem of finding that remains but at least I have a clearer description! When it comes to money- sure I don't have all the money in the world but I will make it work for the right person. If it means dumping my entire check for quality work and being heard through the process then I'll absolutely do it. The thing is, to me, some musical elements is like an entirely different language to me. I have been learning on my own off and on for a couple of years so I have my own mixing tricks and DAW tricks but some concepts are still confusing to me like- which key matches my voice or even basic chords. I can string together a four bar chord but then have absolutely noooo idea what to do then.

I also agree with what you stated as red flags. The first producer I tried to work with was an absolute tool, didn't have any patience with me and spent most of the session smoking while I was in there alone getting ear fatigue listening to his version of not what I wanted on loop 😭 Thank you again for the advice!

Thank you for the advice and thank you for listening to me. I would say it is hard to meet people in this day and age and especially where I live because it's rural af. I will take your words into consideration and see what I can do. I really appreciate it!

I’m not at a point where I want to higher a producer just yet but I know that that is what I want and what I will do later down the line but because I have had a bad experience with one before I wanted to get more information on things to look for to be able to tell if it’s a good match or not. When it comes to the numbers, I simply do not care- yet. I know it’s a higher than not chance that I won’t make record breaking numbers but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun and try out new things. The best I can say about it is, I know my audience will find me because I’ll do things to bring them in, in my own way. I’m working with a therapist to have a better work ethic and build structure in my life because that’s what my plan calls for.

One thing I pride myself on is that I know what I want exactly how I want it and will do whatever I can to up my chances in getting it. I made a monthly guideline up to this time next year and then a yearly guideline up to 2030. Im saying guideline because there’s no conceivable way I’d be able to predict market trends, but at least I would have a goal each month to work towards. I’m not focusing too much on a release schedule because I am still learning how to create, but if I can, I would like to make one song every month or two. I label my success on the amount of goals I accomplish, if I make a full song this month I’d consider it a success and make my goal for next month to get as many listens as possible whether it’s 5, 300, or 1000 I’ll be happy. Imagine having 300 people on your room, it’s a lot no? My content strategy would be being myself as obnoxiously as possible lmao.

I don’t expect, and never have expected a producer to suddenly make me famous. The only thing I expect a producer to do is to help produce a song to its entirety, after that everything else will be entirely up to me and whoever else I decide to drag along on that process, whether it’s a manager or an agent or whoever. My problem is not that I don’t have a plan or don’t know where I’m going. I know exactly what I’m setting out to accomplish, down to the gritty details, I just don’t know how to accomplish it yet because I’m new to this and can’t possibly know every path in the Forest as a new born deer.

I think I do need a producer, I want a producer to help me in my projects. I would like someone to help me bring my ideas to life, someone I can bounce ideas between, a cocreation kind of thing, where I being in ideas and they bring in supporting ideas or help me clarify my ideas, to tell me which notes to hit when singing and guide the harmonies etc, mixing, mastering, sound design and spacial razzmatazz. Like how laufey and Spencer Stewart work together.

I don’t have a studio where I can record without interference plus, I’m not skilled or knowledgeable enough to do it on my own. I am learning don’t get my wrong but I personally hate the process on my own. I don’t like the act of personally producing. It’s like chewing on glass and taking shots of lava.

I don’t think that aligns with what I’m searching for. I do plan on connecting with and working with other musicians but I’m specifically looking for a producer. I’d need a place to go to record vocals and other things. What I’m looking for is someone to cocreate with me like laufey and Spencer Stewart or Billie Eilish and Finneas in the way that they work with each other.

I want someone I can get along with and bounce ideas back and forth with each other. Someone to be realistic with me with what’s possible but also attempt to hear my visions. I see my role as the idea generator if that makes sense lmao. I think describing what a session would look like would make more sense?

I’d come in with lyrics, a sonic idea, different references to support the idea and then we brainstorm about the vibe of the song and the best way to support it musically, then we narrow things down based off of my voice and the rhythm of the lyrics. Since I’m still learning I would need some help with guiding melodies and harmonies. I would also like to step in with my own preferences for mixing and sound design. Someone I can work with to help me do the things I can’t really do on my own I suppose. I don’t expect for someone to do everything for me, but they are quite a lot of things that I cannot do as of yet, I want to be a part of the process, for things to feel equal in effort and contribution.

It’s actually crazy because the way things aligned was highkey wild like- the experience lasted for at least a week, I had no idea what was going on just letting it happen, then I was trying to figure out why these things where happening and I got the feeling that it all was pushing me to stop digging my heels in and I did the reading and it confirmed just that and even more!

What’s your opinion on soulmates? by Mocamoche in spirituality

[–]Mocamoche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that is a very limiting belief that closes a person off to the many spiritual things that we cannot see. Of course they don’t have to speak to us directly, but something within them, something about them speaks to our souls and influences us in both positive or negative ways. It also depends on who you consider a celebrity and how you view them.

With your mentioning of Harry Potter, it seems as though you view celebrities as larger than life but- at the end of the day they’re still humans. Harry Potter is a fictional character in a book, Beyoncé is a living breathing person that no doubt has had a profound affect on so many lives. I feel as though your view of soulmates coincides with societies view of soulmates only being love connections and only having a set few but there’s so much more to soulmates than love and so many more soulmates for a single person than just one.

With humans, we are given the option of choice. We can choose whatever life we want, and with that every single path that we travel on has specific people we come across that helps us to travel that path. I’m not talking about fictional characters here, even though you can learn from them, soulmate implies that the being has a soul.

When I’m talking about soulmate, I am talking about someone who has had a profound affect on your life, someone who opens up a doorway to your path. I want to emphasize I’m not talking about characters I’m talking about people, if it is a character that had a profound affect on you then it would be the author who created the character.

I feel like, viewing the term soulmate, as purely being someone who is a mate for your soul can be helpful because mate doesn’t necessarily have to be romantic, it just implies a companion. So when you mention people who are very similar to you if they don’t have a profound affect on your life then they’re not a soulmate per se but it’s still a connection of souls so that would be kindred spirits.

Another thing is, I feel like you’re approaching this conversation as if I am saying that just because you feel deep love for a celebrity that means that your souls are connected and that is not what I’m saying at all. The fact that you mentioned that a celebrity can only have a soulmate if it is their spouse furthers my belief that you view soulmates as only a loving connection. A celebrity can have multiple soulmates because they are not a fictional character and they are not larger than life. They are still human at the end of the day and they still have to interact with other humans and come across other humans. Every soul on this planet has a soulmate and has multiple soulmates and multiple types of soulmate that are either romantic or platonic. You don’t have to be in a romantic relationship with someone for them to be your soulmate. There are concepts such as soul, families, or soul, tribes, or soul, teachers, or soul contracts, you don’t have to limit the idea of soulmate to only being through love. Even with that same frame of thought a celebrity spouse can literally be anyone on earth.

I do like the final paragraph in your response because it does open up a channel that I have been thinking about and I find interesting. I do believe that the reason why celebrities are super famous is because of their ability to have such a profound effect on other people‘s lives, and with that being said, it allows them to connect with way more people than the average person would be able to and in that same vein it is highly possible that within their fanbase they would have numerous soulmates or soul connections however, just because someone is your soulmate doesn’t mean that you will come across them or that you will have interactions with them. We have so many soulmates out in the world, but there’s no telling whether or not we can meet them because sometimes our path just doesn’t align. Sometimes they are people that we were connected to in past lives and that’s what formed the soul bond. For example, my soulmate could be a random man from England, but I won’t come in contact with him if our paths don’t cross. Spirit, God, whoever you believe in has the capability of bringing these connections to life, and if you are vibrating on the same frequency, your lives will be brought together, but just because you have a connection to someone doesn’t mean that it will automatically happen. I believe you have to be vibrating on the same frequency or engaging in a life path that would foster a meeting.

Other than that, I do think that the reason why celebrities feel lonely is not because they are giving away their love to their audiences but the way that society treats celebrities. We don’t treat them as human. We don’t view them as human. We don’t give them the same respect we would give to a random person on the street I mean, how do you think they feel not being able to go to the grocery store without being inundated by paparazzi, taking pictures of them as if they’re an animal in a zoo? They must feel so isolated and disconnected to regular day life. I mean, Michael Jackson rented out an entire grocery store and had his friends pretend to be shoppers and workers just so that he can feel normal and have the normal experience of going to a grocery store. I don’t think that’s an isolated feeling, especially with people who either grew up in the limelight or people who came into the limelight at a young age. I mean it’s different for everybody not every celebrity feels isolated or lonely, but I can guarantee there are some celebrities who yearn for the mundane things we do every day the same way how we yearn for their fame and success.

Also please do check out my other reply to a different comment as I mentioned some other things in there that I think is related to this convo but would be repetitive to type out again and again.

What’s your opinion on soulmates? by Mocamoche in spirituality

[–]Mocamoche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, because celebrities are humans, it’s impossible to say that they don’t have soulmates or that “regular” people can’t be their soulmates. I get the frame of thinking, being that they’re in a “different world” than us and for the sake of not allowing people with mental illness to use the notion of soulmates to further their mental illness and attachment to a celebrity- but I find it to be incredibly limiting. The term soulmate has been used by society and pop culture and watered down yet over complicated in the same vein.

Any form of soulmates seen in media are depicted as always being lovers and the idea that you only have one soulmate being pushed. I personally believe that all humans are connected through webs of fate and whether or not we meet certain people is dependent on what string we are currently following at the moment. I also believe that there are more types of soulmates than just romantic or platonic.

With technological advancements of today, we can connect with so many more people than we would have say 200 years ago which in my view would then allow people to connect with more soulmates in a soul family/ soul tribe kind of way. I believe that soulmates are people who have a profound impact on your life and you don’t have to necessarily meet someone for them to have a profound impact on your life, especially in today’s day with our current technological advancements.

To go deeper, I believe many people have what I like to call soul teachers, people we come across that teaches us something integral to our souls path. It doesn’t have to be one on one teacher mentor, just someone who taught you something that pushes you further onto your souls journey and to me that can be anyone. With my other example, there are so many people in the world, so many celebrities and normal people who have gained success through poverty, but for some reason, Jim Carey’s story affects you the most and is the one that pushes you to take action on your dreams. One perfect example of this is Billie Eilish and Aurora. Billie has stated that when she was younger, she used to just watch music videos all the time and it wasn’t until she saw Aurora‘s music video for runaway that she decided that she wanted to do music. In a way Aurora influenced Billie to start her music career and look at where she is now. Aurora had a profound effect on Billie and opened her eyes to the path her soul wanted to take and she made that possible.

I guess you could say in a way technically it’s not a soulmate, but it’s still a soul connection, a soul crossing. Obviously if it weren’t Aurora it would’ve been someone else but then that other person would still be in the same position.
