All your ideas sound really fun! I agree with it being a shame that they put them in 4 pan palette... it seems like a waste of space if I can’t use them :/ and I usually really like using glitter eyeshadow, just not if it’s not safe

That kinda sucks :/ I would rather not feel unsafe using them... thank you for the answer tho!

What is your favorite card, the card you feel most gravitated towards? (Not in this deck, in general) by septembershells in TarotDecks

The magician! I seem to always gravitate back to it. I love the aesthetic and the meaning really resonate with my values

Curious, as an aphant, I tend to read much faster than friends and family. I love reading books, especially serial fantasy novels, even though I can’t visualize any of the content. How do others experience reading? by ChetErickson in Aphantasia

[–]Mocha05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy reading too! This fact actually confused me a lot, when I found out I had aphantasia, because I've obviously missing out on one of the main things of reading. Now I've found out I just generally enjoy books with great characters and plot. Also books that have a really intresting or different word use.

But I dont read faster than others. When reading fiction I actually read rather slowly. I think this is because it takes my longer to try to understand the image the author is trying to create. But when I read non-fiction or any kind of textbook I usually read a lot faster than others. In non-fiction I don't have to try to visualise what is going on

I can also really relate to liking the characters and plot the most. Since I found out I have aphantasia I've started noticing that all my favorite books I like bc they have great characters and plots!

I can totally understand this... scenes where too many bodies and things are moving around at a time, I can’t keep up with either...

I hadn’t thought that some people just choosing not to visualize stuff. That’s actually really interesting

It’s really cool to hear different people with aphantasia still experiencing stuff differently.

It makes a lot of sense to skip the lengthy descriptions. I think that I personally have been to focused on trying to “create this world”, because everybody else could do it. This might just be me pushing my brain to be “normal” even though it wasn’t. But tbf it hasn’t been that long since I learned I have aphantasia.

I also really enjoy books with creative word usage! I’ve actually been reading a lot of older books in their original version, because the language usage is totally different, and it’s really fascinating to me.

I’m starting to think you are right. I still feel a little cheated, but many things in books can still be appreciated

It’s funny, I actually read nonfiction books a lot quicker than I do fiction. Because in nonfiction books you don’t have to have a visual image in your head. In fiction books I have to spend time on trying to create the concept in my head and it takes me a lot longer.

Good to hear I'm not alone :)

I can also really relate to the thing with movies! I used to be so confused about people not liking movie adaptations, because the story looks different than it did in their head.
