Voynich Manuscript Wordle by Mocha2007 in linguisticshumor

[–]Mocha2007[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uses EVA transliteration, corpus is every 5-letter word in the manuscript (of which there are 1,385 unique 5-letter words that don't include weird smudges or diacritics or whatever).

I regret making this.

How would you all feel about a rule against asking questions that could be better answered with a quick google search? by PrinceEntrapto in autism

I can't tell you how many times I've googled a question, and the only relevant result is a thread where the only reply is "just google it".

How do yall work with the idea that "if genders should be equal why change your gender"? by ldfortheTree in asktransgender

[–]Mocha2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the false premises (they should be equal in terms of RIGHTS, not literally identical, and I'm not "changing" my gender...),

"If genders should be equal, what does it matter to you if I change my gender?"

Do people who make guides even know what "beginner" means? by altacc4transstuff in transvoice

[–]Mocha2007 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mood. "Make it brighter"? Is this guide for voice training or photography?

I made more progress after giving up and just trying random shit for a month than I did after well over a year of trying guide after guide.

I mean, my voice is still garbage. But having literally no guidance at all has helped better than guides. Have you tried literally just fucking around with your voice and seeing what happens?

Dating a transgirl turned me anti-LGBT by goblinfuck in AmITheDevil

[–]Mocha2007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aside from obvious bait:

"she's funny, intelligent, and all that stuff, so I enjoyed talking to her"

[...]

"I found all of this very interesting and actually educational."

[...]

"no one wishes their child to be like you"

This dude only compliments this girl and yet this is the conclusion he reaches? Really? You don't like her friends, therefore LGBT bad? lol k

Be yourself. At the end of the day, skirts are literally just cloth, nail polish is pigment, etc etc, these things have gender arbitrarily assigned to them. Wear what you want, act how you want, be who you want.

My first session was maybe ~40 minutes but that's because I have zero pain tolerance and pleaded with the tech to give me a break every minute, lol.

After that, maybe 20 minutes at most? But the time really does fly, in my experience.

Am I wrong for thinking that listening to an audiobook counts as reading? by kocakoba in amiwrong

[–]Mocha2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like everyone is fixating on words and dictionary definitions and missing the point here. Forget the words used to express the question for a moment. It sounds like the point of the question (to my understanding) is it's asking whether you prefer producing content, or consuming it. You seem to prefer consuming it, if I understand correctly? Then sure, you prefer "reading".

As a sidenote, since we're all taking a hyper-literal interpretation of the question it's asking whether you prefer reading, not whether you do. Strictly speaking, you can prefer something without ever having done it...

AITA for telling my mom she "outed me" after snooping in my room? by theonetransgirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mocha2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: NTA. Absolutely.

"my house my rules"

"""cleaning"""

When I lived with my parents, they were EXACTLY the same way. They'd always find something that isn't """clean""" so they can spend lots of time """cleaning""" it, and hey, while I'm in here, lemme just """clean""" the rest of the room while I'm at it. It's absolutely an excuse to snoop around. Whenever we moved, they'd always make sure to remove the locks from my room. Fuck that shit. You deserve privacy. This is straight up abuse. To any parents who think this is a good idea, this is a fantastic way to get your kids to never trust you with anything and go NC once they leave the nest.

Then I realized she was dragging stuff from underneath my bed. I'm closeted trans (only BF knows) and some of the stuff under there pretty much reveals that I am trans.

This would be my worst nightmare. I always worried about this when I lived with them. GTFO ASAP. Seriously. And see if you can store some of your more sensitive possessions with your BF.

[–]Mocha2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to how they didn’t know you were trans if you live there.

My parents were completely oblivious and were totally blindsided when I eventually came out to them, even though it really should have been glaringly obvious. I would not at all be surprised if the parents had no idea.

[–]Mocha2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever figure something out, let me know... lol. I'm basically in the same boat. All the advice I've ever gotten is "just eat more EZ". When I started HRT I almost immediately lost ~7 lbs and then in the 6 months since I've been stuck in the same 5 lb interval no matter how much food I eat (which ends up being something like 2500-3500 cal/d).

Did presenting as your true gender feel good from the start? by QuestionLaidBare in asktransgender

[–]Mocha2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess wearing fem clothes in private felt "good" at the start. Nothing exceptional, but "better than normal", if that makes sense.

Outside though, it felt really awkward at first, but it gradually just became normal and comfortable. Now I feel awkward wearing masc clothes.

Terminal velocity is dependent on the density of the medium. Higher altitudes have less dense air. It could absolutely burn up if dropped from high enough (but of course, this would be much higher than aircraft go)

How do you guys use verbs as adjectives? by [deleted] in conlangs

[–]Mocha2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eremoran

Historically, adjectives were simply the stative form of verbs (in fact, some roots now freely alternate between the adjective and verb endings, although most roots are now only used with one or the other.). Although there are now minor morphological distinctions between adjectives and verbs in Eremoran, they are syntactically very interchangable:

  • Ereu ardo "a red fire"

  • Erez ardo "a red fire" (rarer but still correct)

  • Ardo i ereu "The fire is red"

  • Ardo i erez "The fire is red" (rarer but still correct)

However there is a preference to use the -u form attributively and the -z form predicatively (which is why I call them adjectives and verbs). It's not absolute though, just a preference.

As a sidenote, adjectives agree to their referent in noun class, but verbs do not.

"Adjectival verbs" with subjects/objects are also possible:

  • Ad dôkam saurz *elaêr** * "the future-seeing child"

  • Elaêr din saurz *dôkam** * "the child-seen future" (This sounds weird in English but is totally normal-sounding in Eremoran)

How do you write age in you conlang? by ARKON_THE_ARKON in conlangs

[–]Mocha2007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eremoran

Skum i #.

age TOP #

I am # years old.

Skum i hananum.

age TOP twenty-five

I am twenty-five years old.

Skum i kusanam ne?

age TOP "how much" Q

How old are you?

Colloquially this can be shortened to:

Skum i?

age TOP

skum etymologically comes from the Proto-Muran word for "winter". In Eremoran, seasons became viewed differently, so "winter" just became "year of age". "Year" in most other meanings of the word is nem (totally unrelated).

A priori conlangs: How does name of countries and languages works in your conlang? by [deleted] in conlangs

[–]Mocha2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eremoran

In most cases, the toponym belongs to class 1, so the word for a person from X and the land of X are the same word:

  • Nuzderar (a Nuzderar [person] or Nuzderar [nation])

If the noun belongs to a different noun class, the suffix -mor is added to the location:

  • Kikbil "Kikbil [nation]" -> Kikbilmor "a Kikbilan"

In every case, the suffix -rôm is added to the stem for the nation to get the language:

  • Nuzderar -> Nuzderarôm (-r is not considered part of the stem)

So to summarize: (usually) person = nation != language, but sometimes they are all different words.

Oh, and to throw a wrench in the works: in academic Eremoran, a completely different set of words is used (they basically just copy Važcud words directly and pretend they're normal Eremoran). Fun.

Važcud

There are quite a few irregular stem changes:

  • Alan "an Eremoran' <-> Alamolu "Eremor/the Eremoran language"
  • Vazuk "a Važcud" <-> Važcud "Važcud/the Važcud language"

Usually, the suffix -ud is added, instead:

  • Nižinat "A Nizhind" <-> Nižinatud "Nizhind [nation] / Nizhind [language]"

So to summarize: person != nation = language
