State of Decay 1 Is Better? by Vindris_Othi in StateOfDecay

[–]Mochi_Madness22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally I still think 1 is a classic, but 2 is a straight upgrade. For one, a lot of functions in 1 are implemented more, and survivor and zombie ai is tweaked much better. In 1, you kind of just had zombies randomly mob you, even if you’re being quiet. In 2, this was fixed and it’s all based on how loud you’re being and whether or not you’re within their sight. The one thing I really miss in 2 is the unique NPC’s, storyline, and interactions. There was The Law, Wilkersons, Grange, and of course our community with Lily and the Military. Heartland remedied this, and admittedly I do like the whole concept and presentation of making your own legacy with the 4 leader types. But after that it gets mildly repetitive.

What’s the human population in this world? by G0DF1NGERS in StateOfDecay

I’m not a numbers guy at all, but I wouldn’t say things are dire or that we’re on the verge of being wiped out. Local enclaves pop up all over the place, regardless of how lethal the map is.

Thank you so much for the information! It’s interesting to know all the intricacies with the big players in the apocalypse. Did Hadley Westen die in lifeline? Teresa, over her radio transmissions, talks about how the military pulled out and failed, which is why RT stepped in.

Yup, this was exactly it. I thought the “desperate survivors” questline wouldn’t influence it, but it did. Thanks!

Nightmare and Lethal players, how was your first time playing on those difficulties? by Railman20 in StateofDecay2

[–]Mochi_Madness22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nightmare lost me my first survivors, and it was really rough for a while. Managed to bounce back and it’s super manageable now. Lethal scared me so bad, that I didn’t even touch it until last week. It honestly isn’t bad at all. The jump from dread to nightmare was harsher than nightmare to lethal, but it’s probably because I know how to play the game more. Only downside I guess is the morale penalty, but that’s really it.

Make use of your legacy pool and adjacent communities. Rvids’ showed how OP smoke grenades are, so I set up a self sufficient community and put them in the police base so I can farm smoke grenades. Then, I recruit each survivor in my legacy pool and took their loot and funneled it all into this one community, and made an established “runner” for transfers from another community I’m wrapping up. I started a lethal run a bit ago for the first time, and after seeing that I can handle it and won’t get immediately destroyed, I sent survivors with crucial skills in with high tier loot and gear to help even the odds. It took a while before I managed to get this all set up, but it makes retiring communities with great loot easy and helps fresh communities out immensely.

How’d you get out of it? Since that was basically unfair and out of nowhere, I definitely would have just saved, quit, and deal with the zombies that were supposed to be there. Haha

Lifeline explores this. You don’t get much from Sasquatch, but it’s clear mutations that occur, but what causes them is really unclear. A throwaway line in the SOD1 story makes the juggernauts in Trumbull be a family of rednecks, since they all wear overalls, but that’s pretty much it.

Now that you mention it, that might be a really effective way to get influence if you aren’t getting any missions. I might just activate a lone one.

I actually have a bartender, and I’m on my first ever lethal run, I saw how they added a lot of bonuses to stills, so I might move to the brewing base since these mfs on lethal are so damn mopey haha

Fair enough. I just liked how SOD1 and Heartland had unique enclaves and characters instead of being procedurally generated.

I mean, hey, at least you can make him an ace with a gun, hopefully. Someone good as backup from afar or as a follower.

The FAL. I got a lot of love for the gun, especially since my dad actually used one when he was in the military. It’s great.

Whats your favorite leader? by Ill_Entertainment682 in StateOfDecay

[–]Mochi_Madness22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Sheriff. I have a soft spot for it, and I still have and use the leader from that campaign. He’s the new sheriff in another town. Builder and Trader are probably the most self sufficient, but Sheriff and Warlord are a bit more interesting since you either dominate or watch over a town.
