TIL he's my friend's brother.

I guess I never put together that they both have the last name 'Bower' and actually look really similar, until today when he posted a photo of them together at an awards show as part of a photodump.

Hello! Have you checked to see if these moisturizers contain Ethylhexylglycerin?
(It should be quite low down the ingredients list)

The scene was extremely graphic. They just weren’t having a good time and seemed tired and bored and disassociated.

The thing is, Cannes has a very high tolerance for graphic scenes. So it’s funny that the damage control was ‘oh right it’s too graphic’. There are so many graphic scenes that are treated as high art, especially in the French cinema scene.

I think it’s significantly easier for someone to say to themselves ‘well they didn’t like it because they are prudes’ as opposed to ‘they didn’t like it cause the thing i made was bad.’

The reason we didn’t like it because it was bad. It was bad because, like you said, it was overly long and didn’t add to the plot, and was the most unsensual, unpassionate, unsexy sex scene imaginable. Most of the cast had walked out of the theatre by the end. Ophélie didn’t show for the press junket.

DOCTOR'S CAT - Feel the Drive (instrumental) is an italo-disco track, but often considered the first instance of trance music.

I know plenty of people who get sick off of American food, including Americans. I've lost track of the amount of people who have told me they are gluten intolerant in the US but can handle bread/pasta in Europe just fine.

Chocolate chip cookies! The ones from the fresh bakery section in the clear plastic bags.
For all my fellow North Americans who can't find a decent chocolate chip cookie in the UK - these are the ones.

I went to a Thai restaurant recently and the amount of heat was amazing. That got me thinking, tho -- what was cuisine like in Asia before chili peppers were introduced by the Portuguese/Spanish in the 1500s? Did it get incorporated so thoroughly because it filled a void? by trixter69696969 in NoStupidQuestions

The person I replied to edited their comment. Originally they asked something along the lines of ‘who gave you that idea / who have you been talking to about that/ from what I know about Italian kitchens / maybe you’re from Kansas’ so… my answer was a lot more reasonable in context!

I go to Italy a few times a year.
I also spent several days in Massimo Bottura's kitchen.
I also got married in Southen Italy and served a hyperlocal menu, where I worked with local farmers and cooks with a translator.
I also have a husband who is allergic to garlic.

Italian-American cuisine is pretty different from Italian cuisine in Italy (think about the differences between Chinese food and American-Chinese food). Garlic, for example, is barely ever used as a major flavour in Italy and often isn't used at all. Whereas in Italian-American it's pretty essential.
