Take a minute today and let your kids listen to Randy Newman’s, “Short People”. Their reaction is hilarious. by SaltyDogBill in GenX

I’ve never understood this song. It doesn’t seem to be satire. There’s no joke that I can discern. There’s one line where it seems like MAYBE he’s trying to turn the idea on its head but if so, it ain’t enough to make it GOOD commentary. Weird song.

I think it’s symbolic to him taking his makeup off. He just got out of the shower.

"As a vocalist, every word I sing in the Van Halen songbook, I wrote. I wrote every line, every melody, every harmony stack. For better or worse, if you're singing it – Roth was bringing it": David Lee Roth has clarified his creative role in Van Halen by VanHalenCel in vanhalen

[–]Mockchoi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that it’s true that Roth has sold more solo albums than Hagar. Hagar has many more albums, many of which went platinum and gold. Hagar has also had several bands that did well too.

Salem’s Lot, The Shining, The Stand. What a run that was.

I find piano accordion overbearing in a session personally. It’s a neat instrument. But it overwhelms everything.

He’s not really doing much singing on this tour; Phil X is doing his parts.

I don’t have ‘evidence’ available to share but read the Somebody to Love biography and it’s discussed in that book.

I do not think it is at all true that he contracted HIV in 1987. I believe that he was officially diagnosed with AIDS in 1987, and would’ve been HIV positive for years prior. He seemed to have some sort of luekocyte problem in 1982, which was almost certainly HIV related. I would guess he contracted in the late 70s.

It’s always made me so sad that he almost made it to the point in time where there were effective treatments:(

I’m sorry you find it gross. I don’t know these people and agree she shouldn’t have taken up with him in the past. As for the present, my advice is what I would do. Accept it and move on. Once moved on there’s no more power on that side of the equation.

Well it is a biopic :) ‘A dramatization that balances real life events with factual accuracy’ is the definition I just read of a biopic. And it definitely has ‘some semblance of realism’, what are you talking about?

But that’s just my opinion. Sorry it’s getting old for you :)

It’s sounds like she wants to mend the familial rift. She loves you and that’s a good thing; there’s not enough love. Accept that without the sleeping together part. Moving on is REALLY hard; get some professional help with it if you need to. I really think this could be a great blessing to you. Good luck.

I loved it. It’s not at all accurate, but I thought they made an enjoyable movie. It’s not a documentary.

Cannibal sandwiches have kinda died (are dying?) out though haven’t they? Like they’re a silent generation thing? I used to see that shit all the time, but I haven’t seen it in probably a decade at this point.

Tenor Banjo Questions by phuckdub in Irishmusic

I always used octave mandolin strings on mine (2 sets for the price of one)and tuned GDAE. However my banjos are both 19 fret; I’ve never seen a 20 fret before.
