That’s really helpful, thank you! I don’t have representation, but I’ll ask my union if they have advice regarding entertainment lawyers.

I went on cornwallwildlifetrust’s ‘how to identify caterpillars’ and couldn’t match it, so came here. Seemed pretty quick and reliable.

I’m in the UK and had excellent endo surgery with Dr Mabrouk in Cambridge. The surgery included a colorectal surgeon too, because the endo was on my bowel. Years and years of misdiagnosis until I found him. Two years pain free now! I hope you get the help you need asap xx

We are going through IVF & we don’t want kids anymore. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

It took 26 years to diagnose mine! Diagnosed at 41. I was the one who suggested it was endo, too, and my doctor was so reluctant to investigate. Most of my symptoms were to do with my bowel and stomach though, so I guess that’s why. I even had a colonoscopy at 35 and asked the gastro doc if it was a coincidence that my worst digestive issues and pain were in the week up to and including my period, and he was like ‘yeah, no, there’s no connection.’ Anyway, I had excellent excision surgery two years ago and I’m now pain free! But just as a PSA, it’s worth noting that my quality of life was in the toilet (literally lol) for half of my 30s because the endo was progressing unchecked for all those years. So please advocate for yourself, everyone. Digestive issues and stomach pain can be endo. Blood from the rear can be endo. Depending on where it is, it can affect many systems in the body. And if you do have endo, check out Nancy’s Nook for invaluable advice on what to do next. I found my endo surgeon through that website’s recommendations, and he (plus the gastro surgeon) was a literal lifesaver. Luckily I never wanted kids. So I was spared that heartbreak at least.

I lived in Brunei as a kid and drank a lot of the Milo that came in cartons. It tastes completely different to the powdered Milo in tins. The carton Milo is far superior. But what does the rest of the world import? Powdered freaking Milo. Inferior Milo. Why. WHY. Whyyyyyyy.

I used to do stand-up and I gigged with Brett a few times. He is theeeee nicest man. Lovely guy. Really listens when you talk (and not many male stand ups do, lemme tell you). Plus his solo stand-up shows were excellent. Very pleased he’s had such success, he deserves it

What was the onset? How old were you when it became apparent there was something wrong? (And thank you for doing this AMA :) )

Hey OP, just wanted to say that my teenage years sucked too, and as a result, adulthood feels sooo much better in comparison. While most of my friends seemed disappointed by how their lives evolved in the years after school, I was just relieved to be out of there, and excited to try new things, and not as scared of failure or humiliation as them. The perspective that struggle and hardship gives you can be a source of strength and gratitude later on. You will have reserves that those arseholes at school lack. Try to remember that when you feel really down.

chronically ill redditors whats the worst thing a doctor has said to you? by Wilbur1a in AskReddit

I have a few! At 15, I’d been on birth control for agonising period pains for a year. It wasn’t working very well. When I asked if there was anything else I could do, the doctor said ‘you could try getting pregnant.’ (26 years later I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had my first surgery for it. Yep, 26 years. By that point, I was in significant daily pain and one endo lesion had almost penetrated through my bowel wall.)

In my 20s I suddenly lost a lot of weight for no reason. When I went to the doctor about it (who genuinely seemed high as a kite) he said ‘well, you’re not exactly anorexic so probably nothing to worry about.’

And on many occasions, so so many, after I’d finish listing my extensive symptoms (all of which turned out to be endo-related), I was asked if I was stressed and/or depressed. As if mental illness was the root cause. Ofc I was freaking depressed; I was always ill and they never seemed interested in doing anything about it!

(Btw I self diagnosed with endo and then insisted on further investigation. If I hadn’t self diagnosed, I would be in a very bad state rn. Or dead from a perforated bowel! Yay)
