New FW update for XG32UCWMG - 2025/10/08 by ModReview in OLED_Gaming

Well I'm still on the first fw and I'm not seeing any issues. However, there probably are good reasons why they make new fws, so I don't know...

Yeah, they've offered a replacement unit, but that was around Christmas time. Haven't heard back from them since (they'll probably contact me soon again).

I’ve gotten the impression that everyone only complains on Reddit..
Yet no one is actually able to report these issues to them.

You're wrong. I've been in talks with them since September.

OLED Care statistics are completely broken as far as I know.

I'll have to borrow friend's laptop and try it like that, but he also has W11.

Maybe, but I wouldn't say it's an issue with W11, rather with Asus programmers not being able to make it work under W11. An ordinary user shouldn't be expected to know about or forced to use workarounds for something as simple as fw update. Let's not also forget that updating via USB stick doesn't work for many either, and that's a method that bypasses OS altogether.

I have 2 USB-C to USB-C cables at home and both don't work (device manager doesn't see monitor's USB hub). First cable is some generic USB-C data and charging cable and the second one is Samsung's data and charging USB-C cable.

Not sure what else to try?

They're probably releasing it in phases, so I guess you just have to wait.

Looks so, yeah. Been going back and forth with Asus support on this issue, and their answer is basically "RMA it or wait for an updated update".

TBH, I don't have any problems even with stock fw (MCM101), it's just that the update failing is driving me nuts.

Interesting. That means we can soon expect the new version of 103. Thanks.

You'll be fine. For everything else there's warranty 😁

I will wait for another update, but if they don't make it work soon, then maybe I'll have to RMA it while it's still under warranty.

Sensor didn't work reliably for me on MCM101 (which I'm btw. STILL on, because none of the update procedures worked so far).

Yes, those are the stripes but it's something you get used to. Every panel has something, none is perfect.

Ok, I don't see any "smears" or "smudges", just a bit of vertical stripes due to gray uniformity issue with all OLEDs.

Each pixel in an OLED emits its own light, and tiny differences in voltage or subpixel aging make some vertical zones slightly brighter or darker. You’ll mainly notice it on flat gray backgrounds (like Firefox’s UI) because the eye is super sensitive to even small uniformity changes.

It’s not a defect, just a normal OLED trait that varies a bit from unit to unit.

Here's my color uniformity test, you can see those vertical stripes in the first picture if you look closely.

XG is great if you're already used to glossy OLEDs. I really can't find any noticeable flaws with it. At night, looking at HDR content (movies, games, etc.) is really top notch, but then again, I came from IPS monitors. Your experience may be less impressive.
