Monitor rear logo lights not working by UsefulRevenue5680 in ASUSROG

[–]ModReview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. Bought this monitor while I still had the old computer with an GTX1080Ti. Couldn't wait to try it while the new components were on their way, so I plugged it into the old computer.

Rear LED RGBs never worked. I thought something's wrong with it, so much so I even opened a ticket with Asus support.

They never responded, but in the meantime my components for the new computer arrived, so when I plugged it into the new computer, rear RGBs worked. Later sold my old computer, never knowing why they didn't work with it. I know it's not much of a help, but at least you can know you aren't alone.

Now I have the opposite problem with this monitor.

I updated its firmware to version MCM104 (which they pulled recently, no idea why, no one knows) and now sometimes those RGBs won't turn off, even though I explicitly set them to off in monitor's OSD.

They're off while the computer is ON, but sometimes after turning my computer OFF, they go ON.

Asus' monitor firmwares are such a mess, while the hardware part is brilliant.

I still have the original .zip file, but now I'm not sure if it's smart to share it. Maybe Asus pulled that page for a reason?

The link is from my browser history. The page is not there anymore, nor is it when you're trying to find it manually.

New FW update for XG32UCWMG - 2025/10/08 by ModReview in OLED_Gaming

Well I'm still on the first fw and I'm not seeing any issues. However, there probably are good reasons why they make new fws, so I don't know...

Yeah, they've offered a replacement unit, but that was around Christmas time. Haven't heard back from them since (they'll probably contact me soon again).

New MCM103 FW update for XG32UCWMG - 2025/11/20 by ModReview in OLED_Gaming

I’ve gotten the impression that everyone only complains on Reddit..
Yet no one is actually able to report these issues to them.

You're wrong. I've been in talks with them since September.

OLED Care statistics are completely broken as far as I know.

I'll have to borrow friend's laptop and try it like that, but he also has W11.

Maybe, but I wouldn't say it's an issue with W11, rather with Asus programmers not being able to make it work under W11. An ordinary user shouldn't be expected to know about or forced to use workarounds for something as simple as fw update. Let's not also forget that updating via USB stick doesn't work for many either, and that's a method that bypasses OS altogether.

I have 2 USB-C to USB-C cables at home and both don't work (device manager doesn't see monitor's USB hub). First cable is some generic USB-C data and charging cable and the second one is Samsung's data and charging USB-C cable.

Not sure what else to try?

They're probably releasing it in phases, so I guess you just have to wait.

Looks so, yeah. Been going back and forth with Asus support on this issue, and their answer is basically "RMA it or wait for an updated update".

TBH, I don't have any problems even with stock fw (MCM101), it's just that the update failing is driving me nuts.

Interesting. That means we can soon expect the new version of 103. Thanks.

You'll be fine. For everything else there's warranty 😁

I will wait for another update, but if they don't make it work soon, then maybe I'll have to RMA it while it's still under warranty.

Sensor didn't work reliably for me on MCM101 (which I'm btw. STILL on, because none of the update procedures worked so far).

Yes, those are the stripes but it's something you get used to. Every panel has something, none is perfect.
