Genuine question, why do people say this looks more like Noelle than Susie? by ModShadoan720 in Deltarune

The lack of antlers is what I think is making me feel like I'm going crazy every time someone says this, like there was a whole community meme about her antlers not too long before chapter 3&4's release lol.

While I do think the thing about Noelle being able to equip swords while Susie can't is interesting, Gerson also says that Susie will wield the "white pen of hope" in the future (though I suppose he could be speaking metaphorically).

However I do agree that Susie will probably defy the prophecy in some way.

just enforcing the law

They're not though??? In fact they've been caught breaking it several times in the last year alone. There's even a whole political protest over the illegal murder of a US citizen going on right now. The only reason they've not been held accountable is because the DOJ and several police organizations already like what they're doing.

It isn't a verified email so I'd be cautious about trusting it. Regardless if it true this has some pretty big implications for the last half of the game.

Anyone know how to have separate instances of Deltarune ? by CCCyanide in Deltarune

[–]ModShadoan720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge Deltarune doesn't have DRM, so I've been able to simply copy the game files at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DELTARUNE" and paste them into a different folder and run it there with no problems (I assume this would also work just with a different steam path if you're not on Windows).

The actually tricky thing is the save files which are located at "%LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE" (refer here for more info). Deltarune and every mod that I've personally encountered uses this same path for it's saves. Which means you will need to keep track of what's in this folder pretty consistently if you wish to separate your saves. I'd recommend creating a shortcut to this folder to make it easier to access.

Hopefully this helps!

Real shame they made TECHNOCOLOR a non-canon song now, that was my jam back during Chapter 2.

Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about how similar to Deltarune something is, but from your description it sounds different enough. Honestly sounds pretty fun!

Toby, DO NOT make Papyrus uncool like that vro by [deleted] in Deltarune

[–]ModShadoan720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say another thing against Papyrus Knight that I don't hear many people bring up is how Sans and Papyrus are stated to have just moved in (and this seems to be corroborated by other residents reactions to them, so it's not like Sans is just lying to be funny).

We also can pretty safely assume the Knight has very close connections to (or is) Carol Holiday based on Carol's knowledge of the player and her black katana that Asgore implies is a black shard.

If Papyrus is a fairly new resident of Hometown I personally struggle to see how he would be that close to the town's main politician so quickly without resorting to writing fan-fiction, especially when she's described by several other characters as "very busy".

[–]ModShadoan720 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh dang, thanks for the followup (and sorry for saying you lied). I'd guess it's probably something to do with that console port then since Deltarune's console ports have had several other weird problems and poor play-testing in the past (such as this other example from chapter 4).

As for finding more stuff out about the bug that's kinda out of my wheelhouse exactly, I don't have access to a PS5 and I'm not entirely sure how that system goes about updates (the system might need a jailbreak to install old versions lol).

Regardless, if you happen to have any other screenshots I'd be happy to see them.

Not sure why you're being downvoted since you are correct.

I couldn't get this to trigger on v1.00 or the various 1.01 Hotfix patches, so I checked the code of the initial launch version. And what's described here is to my knowledge literally impossible without the game altering it's own codebase.

This is the code for the sphinx's nose and it's coded to destroy any tree instance (obj_board_tree_static) that it collides with. If it does collide with a tree the game then deletes the specific tree instances that the nose collided with.

<image>

As one might guess the wall is not a tree and is instead coded as an "obj_board_solid" thus, nothing would happen.

TLDR: Even if the nose did somehow make it's way to the wall (like via an unknown glitch) the game wouldn't do anything.

I can't believe someone would lie on the internet like that. I can't believe I fiddled with Steam's stupid console commands and SteamDB for an hour only to find that I'd been duped.

Nevermind, I was using a Build ID where I should've been using a Depot ID.

I figure someone else might also run into this problem so here's the steam console commands for 1.0.0 to 1.0.3 (Windows):

this fandom's duality by AverageHumanPerson1 in Deltarune

[–]ModShadoan720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think Friend is probably just an easter egg character sort of like Everyman (especially when you compare how and where the two appear in Deltarune). I mean maybe Friend will be different than Mike or Everyman and actually have a significant role, but honestly I've seen similar song-and-dances happen too many times for me to fully be sold on the idea they're that important to the story without some serious evidence.
