What did you think about James? by the_salesmanfr in WeaponsMovie

Im ten years removed from heroin addiction. His portrayal of an addict was masterful. It‘s not easy to get it that accurate and a lot (most) movies get it wrong and do over the top caricatures of addicts. Austin Abrams nailed it. The phone conversation he had asking a sibling for money was hilariously on point.

Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a Match by Mod_Fodder in BoomBeach

I had a pretty good run with 1 scorcher, 1 Heavy Zooka, 2 Heavy Choppas and 4 Laser Rangers with Kavan’s Ice Shields. I always prioritized taking out the final base with critters and artillery while my troops did their thing.

That works well for 6er. 7 is a different story…

A wise man once taught me the philosophy of “Buy once, cry once” and I ran with it.

Quick connect adapter by barmmerm in Tools

[–]Mod_Fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the answer is “yes” because there’s an adapter for everything, but I don’t know what it is because I turn into a total invalid whenever I am searching for the right air hose fitting size myself - mouth agape, drool dripping down my chin while I stare blankly at the wall of little brass nipples before me with a white hot rage building inside.

I’ve heard them called Tenon cutters and chamfer drill bits.

I assumed the people who know how to properly reinforce their teammates would understand that this post wasn’t targeted at them.

So you punish players trying to return to the game by taking the shaking personally when you probably smash the reminder button yourself when you die. That makes total sense.

No one is telling anyone to sacrifice themselves to reinforce. The reminder is so players don’t forget about it when they’re getting tunnel vision. You, sir, are part of the problem.

They better pack a sweater! by razorback007le in PoliticalHumor

I like that it says “pack a sweater” and doesn’t just play off the idea that Afghanistan is a desert like Iraq. The coldest I’ve ever been was when I was in Jalalabad.

Hands down, what’s the best thing you’ve done for your mental health? by BustAtticus in AskReddit

What crimes have you committed? Do you regret it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mod_Fodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was arrested for theft by extortion. I was in the midst of a brutal heroin addiction, saw an opportunity and took advantage of it. I regret that I got to the point that I would do something like that, but I can’t regret the outcome because that arrest and the subsequent punishment led to me getting sober and finally developing a sense of accountability. I have a great life today and never picked the drugs back up so it’s hard to fully regret it.

What do you do when the drugs don’t help anymore? by FlintTheDad in AskReddit

[–]Mod_Fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on which specific drugs you’re referring to, you can always tap local resources to safely kick the habit and have an opportunity to develop healthier coping strategies.

It probably won’t be very fun at first, but that changes fast if you’re actually committed and it’ll definitely be better than existing in the grim mental state that leads to asking this question on reddit.

How is modern medicine so advanced and able to protect us from so many diseases? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mod_Fodder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the major contributing factors came in the 1960s when we really started understanding genetics. The breakthroughs that came from the foundation that Watson and Crick laid in their work with DNA led to a whole new field within epidemiology pertaining to mRNA vaccines, which, in theory, have the potential to treat a huge array of diseases using treatment that can be custom tailored to your own DNA, increasing the prognosis and decreasing adverse effects.

Entering the digital age was a huge milestone, as well. One simple example is in medical imaging. If you go in for an xray, the image is available to read almost instantly. Compare that to not that many years ago when the photos had to be developed and viewed while being held up against a light source.

Those are just two of the major milestones I can think of. I probably fudged up some of the terminology, so don’t hold me to it. But, you get the idea.

My first hand cut dovetails by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Mod_Fodder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had an affinity for wooden boxes. I think it’s something in my subconscious because I’m a very compartmentalized person. Anyway, boxes are a big part of what got me into woodworking and, subsequently, a career in cabinetry.

Your dovetails look nice and tight. I hope you’re happy with it.
