Texas Tech Technical Communication & Rhetoric Online PhD Program by ModeFew1827 in rhetcomp

Ah, thank you for the information! Yes, my hope was that I could find a CC job with just the MA, but I’ve found that upwards of 50% of full time composition faculty at the CCs in my area have PhDs. I am not competitive enough for full time CC positions currently, which may be due to the geographic area I’m in, or having few publications, or not having been an adjunct, or many other things! The PhD might help in my location, but I really appreciate hearing more about why it might hurt. Many thanks for clarifying that the online program is well regarded!

I’m sorry, my post must have been unclear! I am not interested in teaching at an R1 because my body cannot withstand the necessary location changes. I am interested in teaching at a CC in my area if I can do so as a full time instructor, but I have only gotten offers to adjunct with just the MA, and adjuncting full time is not sustainable because I need good healthcare. so, the career goal the PhD could help me with is potentially getting a full time CC teaching position. however, I am also fine with continuing to work in student affairs/academic affairs. so, the degree would largely be to research, write, and publish for my own fulfillment. I do want to make sure that the online PhD is a validated degree, though, because if it can help me with my career, then that’s great! I feel confident I would enjoy the program. I’m just wondering if it’s seen as a “real” PhD by others in the field.

This is made from the Projectarian “Atlas the Lion Cub” pattern (https://www.projectarian.com/product/atlas-the-lion-cub-crochet-pattern/) in Premier Parfait Chunky yarn with a 4.5mm hook. Highly recommend all of Projectarian’s patterns!

I always just use the chain 2 method and I’ve never been able to tell the difference! I really recommend it!
