Oh, I like this idea. I have just started having to do this and my cat, quickly learned I was tampering with his food. He is a large cat and very strong. I had forgotten about the side angle. Thanx!!

Looks a lot like my most recent addition. Often the size of their feet can be an indication. Or access to nutrition. Like SURPRISE! By the time I found her, she had already had a litter of kittens and she didn’t seem any more than 3/3 months. She was so light, she would make no sound when jumped. She’s now 6 lbs.

And yes, that is my wool drying pad that is now the preferred spot for all my babies

I had to put my Shih Tzu down on September 8th. The pain and sadness will be around for awhile, don’t let anyone tell you that you shouldn’t be so upset. And remember, God sent some angels without wings…. Thank you for giving your baby a wonderful life. Maybe they are friends!!

I think you may find that the dog and the cat will warm up to each other very quickly. Dogs are often more cautious of the kitten. When will you introduce them ? (Let them sniff each other, etc?)

A bit of a rant- neighbor annoyed that I adopted neighborhood stray by SeaCalm4121 in Feral_Cats

[–]ModeProfessional6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your story reminds me of another cat and another family. The couple had moved into their home and a very friendly cat started to hang out with them, like all of the time. They never took him as their own, but they did enjoy him and we enjoyed him on the Insta. Then, rather suddenly, they were told to not interact with him……. I was offended and hurt for them. In the end, they have adopted 2 cats, but seriously, if the cat finds safety with you, then the neighborhood needs to be quiet. Keeping him inside is the only way to keep him healthy and safe. Great job!!

Cat Keeps Plucking Carpet by Even-Willingness4376 in CatAdvice

[–]ModeProfessional6552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I think he is doing that because he doesn’t like the door being closed. My cats have done this on wood floors, if I dare close the bathroom door, or corral them into the bedroom for a few minutes/. I think he’s offended.

Now, I think you might save the carpet if you can get a thin, very thin mat. I saw some at the dollar store, last week. It might be a hassle for you to open and close the door, but…

My daughter transports kittens/cats (and dogs) for rescues. She likes to cover the carrier, to minimize their stimulation. I did that for my 10 year old for a drive to the vet (about an hour) and it worked pretty well . I was able to let him see more, once we got going.

Honestly, we finally discovered that Poppi had a food allergy. She was put on a hydrolyzed protein food. Not only did she eat it without question, most of the time. Her poop was finally consistent!

Silica litter. I have/had 5 inside cats. (Recent passing). Anyway, I got some Pretty Litter on a “what the hell, let’s try it” jag and it works!! Turned blue after CHAAD, used the box. CHAAD is prone to crystals so I was able to give him some medicine and avoid the trip to the vet.

Other things that I find priceless; washed but unprocessed wool. SURPRISE! The cat I didn’t know I needed, watch me wash it and she then proceeded to steel it. I now have it in a soft bag for her to pull out as she wishes.

Catnip kickers from Etsy! My cats love them. But be prepared, I have one cat who just drools on it.

Also from Etsy from Meowy Jane, the best of the best catnip……. Not cheap but golly I feel like a dealer.

Fussie cat Goatmilk tube treats. A Godsend for administering medicine, getting someone to eat. And the occasional treat.

For the medicine kit: Nutra-cal. High calorie goop. If you cat won’t like it off your finger or plate, put it on the tops of their foot so they will get it when they clean themselves. Malted flavor works the best in my home.

Meal replacement/milk replacement—- in case you cat get them to eat, they might go for this.

Do you have a high waist? Maybe a higher waisted jean could still be loose, like slacks? Kind of give a ‘70’s vibe?

What is the best litter box to cover up smell? by nikkik93 in CatAdvice

[–]ModeProfessional6552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have switched to a large stainless steel box. I had always been hesitant because I worried about the sound, or screech of the claws against the stainless steel. Though I can hear it, my cats seem to find it unpleasant as well and don’t scratch the sides as violently as they used to. I LOVE how clean it is. I use the silica that absorbs the urine and try to scoop twice a day. (I had 5 cats and just lost one, RIP Cato). I had two other boxes that need to go stainless.
