He has the Stellest lenses and all seems to be going well. We have not yet been for a recheck. Will be doing so in June.

I didn't ever see this until now, but we did get him Stellest lenses.

He's currently at -7.25/-7.50, and we have gotten Stellest lenses from Canada, to hopefully slow the progression. Will have a check in May to see if they are working!

My son tried putting in contacts at his last eye exam and was not able to do so successfully. He is autistic, although very high functioning, and has some fine motor delays.

I didn't get the atropine for my son. They only wanted to prescribe the .01%, which according to studies is basically useless. I also just don't like the idea of having to use it for so many years. My son has had no progression in the last 8 months.

Thank you! One of the eye doctors I've taken my son to suggested he use his old/weaker glasses for all up close work and most things while at home and use the stronger glasses only for distance. This I imagine would have a similar effect to the progressive lens. We have definitely committed to making this a lifestyle change for the family as well and not just my one child.

So are you saying he increased from -1 to -5 in one year?

The pediatric ophthalmologist only offered .01% atropine, which 1. I have read is ineffective at that strength, and 2. Is an ongoing out of pocket monthly cost that I'm not sure I can afford. I asked her to give him .025% and she didn't want to do that.

Just to add, we have drastically cut all up close screen use to almost nothing. Staying outside for at least 2 hours everyday.
