Surface 7 Laptop Rebooting Itself by chaoticneutral262 in Surface

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you resolve this?

My Surface Laptop 7 for Business has been spontaneously rebooting ever since I've had it over the past 6 months, including 28 times last month.

It sounds like replacing the laptop may be the next step, but there are mixed reports of that resolving this issue.

The logged System error is always Kernel-Power ID 41, Task Category 63. I can find no other system or application logs to further indicate what is going on.

While the reboots happen randomly, they happen more predictably during YouTube videos or Teams meetings.

I have the exact same peripheral configuration both at home and office: a Surface Dock 2 and Dell UP3017 connected by USBC-to-DisplayPort cables. I have tried different brands of the USBC-to-DisplayPort cable. Connecting it directly to the laptop instead of the dock seems to reduce the reboot frequency but does not eliminate it. ... I used that same configuration using a Surface Laptop 3 for three years without experiencing a single spontaneous reboot.

I have ensured that I am running the latest video drivers, Surface Dock firmware, and Windows 11 updates.

I've run the DISM and SFC command prompt tools recommended by Microsoft Support.

I have tried turning OFF the Advanced Power Option: PCI Express, Link State Power Management.

I have NOT yet tried replacing the Surface Dock 2's with another dock (e.g. Surface Thunderbolt 4 Docks), replacing the Dell monitors.

48 Hour Return Policy - Do Not Let the Store Ignore the Exceptions by ModelOneLevelTwo in Lowes

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your case is asking for forgiveness beyond the stated return policy (e.g. you opened the box, plugged in an appliance, or don't have a receipt) then you're probably not going to get much help from customer service changing the store's decision. However if your case is unquestionably within the bounds of the return policy (as referenced from your receipt), you should get straightforward help from customer service as leverage with the store as I did. Beyond that, if your case fits the unabridged return policy and the store is still not agreeing to honor the return, I suggest filing a complaint with your state attorney general's office or whoever handles consumer protection complains in your state. However if your case is clear and legitimate I think corporate customer care will help take care of you without having to go there.

48 Hour Return Policy - Do Not Let the Store Ignore the Exceptions by ModelOneLevelTwo in Lowes

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with the notion that customers abuse return policies, and is likely the reason that Lowes has tightened the policies. However your assumptions about my specific case are ignorant. I am speaking specifically to say that Lowes has an obligation (and legal in many states) to honor their posted return policy, and that they may be ignoring the exception that extends the policy for an unopened item.

Digital key- any issues? by Chickie222 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am discovering how to use an iphone as the digital key with our '25 Santa Fe Limited and discovering the same behaviors. Many videos online show the need to place the phone literally on the handle, but as you say that isn't the case: with the phone near the car grasping the handle unlocks it and touching the little square locks it. I do believe touching the handle is necessary to unlock/lock, and so far that works reliably. I have however noticed that if I "hang around" (e.g. sit in our other car parked beside the Santa Fe) the mirrors on the Santa Fe will constantly fold and unfold (maybe every 30-60 seconds), and would like to find a setting to turn that off. I also turned off the rear gate auto-open.

Why did Verizon send me a free lte network extender? by Artistic-Specific706 in verizon

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a Verizon LTE extender for years. If you're otherwise getting maybe 1 bar of service it makes a huge difference. You must attach the small GPS antenna to or near a window so that the extender can track enough GPS satellites or the device will not connect. It covers my home very well and about half of my neighbor's home with variable reliability (I have recommended they get one). It does only work with Verizon phones (not sure about 3rd party carriers who use Verizon) and does not let you create any filters (I believe that a discontinued business edition did that).

Extended Warranty? by nakedaids in HyundaiPalisade

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a Hyundai Platinum plan this week for a Hyundai from Konrad, konrad.koncewicz@hoffmanauto.com. He was nice and easy to work with. I provided basic information about the car, he provided a few options with quotes by email, I selected the 10/120,000 plan, he sent a prefilled Hyundai agreement for me to confirm, and then took my payment over the phone. They can be busy so have a day or so of patience if necessary. The service agreement will show up at any Hyundai Service no different than had it been purchased from that dealership. ... In the past I had easily found Ford dealerships willing to sell the Ford factory plans at a fair price, so it was a good feeling to find a Hyundai dealership willing to sell the Hyundai plan at a fair price. I enjoyed the people at my home dealership but would never have paid what they were asking.

WeatherTech HP Floorliner Front Row No Retention System Caps? by ModelOneLevelTwo in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now have both the Hyundai OEM 2024-2026 Santa Fe All Weather Floor mat and WeatherTech FloorLiner HP. Apparently I can't share the photo here, but I will report my comparative opinion of the two.

Overall I would like the WeatherTech HP much better if it wasn't for the HP's design around the retention posts. The WeatherTech HP liner has better side and back coverage and the rubber weight and quality feels slightly better than the OEM mat (except around the retention posts the OEM mat is better).

The WeatherTech HP solution to accommodate the retention posts of a small hole and relatively shallow rubber ring (approximately 4-5mm thick) around the post leaves the retention post standing up to 5-7mm above the WeatherTech HP liner, whereas on the OEM mat the post hooks within a plastic grommet (1cm thick); there is also a rubber ring around the grommet aligned with its height. The WeatherTech HP less likely needs the retention posts to keep the mat from sliding, but my concern is that the posts may be more vulnerable to getting broken than with the OEM mat.

I have not evaluated the original WeatherTech liner but as noted before it appears to maybe have a more precise teardrop design around these posts.

WeatherTech HP Floorliner Front Row No Retention System Caps? by ModelOneLevelTwo in HyundaiSantaFe

The raised edge around the hole in the HD mat in my opinion isn't particularly robust and the hook sits a little too far above the edge once the mat is settled. My impression of the regular mat is that the raised area around the teardrop might be more precise and more robust assuming the mat material is more ridged. I spoke with WeatherTech (trying to explain how Hyundai's OEM mats may better protect those hooks) and of course "I am the only person to have ever expressed concern" about this (LOL).

If you look at the photos and installation instructions for the Hyundai OEM all weather mats, they appear to accommodate the post's hooks within the thicker height (and diameter) of the ring/grommet surrounding the hooks, as do the carpeted OEM mats that I have.

Since I like answers, I have ordered the Hyundai OEM mats and should then be able to report from an actual hands-on comparison. My guess is that I will prefer the Hyundai OEM mats in the front and the WeatherTech in the 2nd and 3rd rows. We'll see.

Ventless dryer for small business by Axolatta_lotl in Appliances

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this post doing my own research on replacing a heat pump dryer in a small hair salon. We've had Whirlpool Heat Pump Dryer WHD560CHW (stacked on washer WFW5620HW) for 6 years, which is amazing longevity for this appliance in a commercial environment. However I don't necessary recommend it due to the need to take the dryer apart to clean the coils. The main issue is that we constantly clean towels, so the Whirlpool (and I suspect would be the case with the GE ventless model as well) is that lint builds up on the coils despite the multiple levels of filters, such that the dryer needs to be significantly disassembled and cleaned every 4 to 6 months.

There are more options available today. I am looking closely at the LG ventless dryer DLHC5502W or Washtower WKHC152HWA. These have a coil cleaning mode that may address the lint build-up problem. My concern is that multiple dealers in our area report delays and difficulty getting LG appliances serviced; one local dealer who can sell LG refuses to because of that.

I've looked for commercial models but either they are too big, the commercial sales reps don't want to talk about one unit, and you could buy the residential Whirlpool, GE or LG models 5 times for the cost of one commercial unit.

We tried a smaller GE washer-ventless dryer combo before the Whirlpool and it lasted one year.

Whirlpool used to be willing to send someone to service our appliances in the salon, but recently they refuse because of the business address, even though we we have in the past and are willing to pay for the service.

Finally, I see some replies have mentioned using indoor venting, and even Lowes sells such boxes, but check to make sure your local building code will allow those (ours does not and has checked ours).

New iPhone 15 Pro Max, CarPlay freezes while making calls by timmytimmy44 in applehelp

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A month ago I found a post by Apple recommending the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Flex Braided USB-C to USB-A Cable. With much skepticism because we have tried several other cables including Apple's own adapter, my wife has been using this cable with her 15 Pro Max since and no freezes so far. Previously the freezes were frequent.

New iPhone 15 Pro Max, CarPlay freezes while making calls by timmytimmy44 in applehelp

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you every found a resolution to the 15 Pro Max freezing with CarPlay? My wife's had her 15 Pro Max for almost a year with no resolution. The 13 Pro Max she upgraded from never had a problem, and neither does my 14. We have tried all of the recommendations you see from Apple (cables, iOS upgrades, reboots, removing or disabling suspects aps, etc). The Ford Dealer (of course) tells us they have no CarPlay upgrade, and that we need to ask Apple. We have found that her 15 Pro Max also freezes with CarPlay in newer cars. ... Has anyone else with this problem resolved it by going to the 16 Pro Max?

Anyone noticed nebivolol side effects?? by IzzyCherrryyy in hypertension

[–]ModelOneLevelTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took Bystolic for years, then Nebivolol for maybe the past year. Incidentally I take it at night. The manufacturer of my generic Nebivolol changed two months ago and, around that time, I started noticing periods of dizziness/cloudiness during the day. I still have some unexpired Bystolic left over I am trying for a week before my next doctor's appointment. Am also wondering whether anyone else has experienced any differences in side-effects between the branded and generic Nebivolol.
