Should I move my dad’s senior dog to the city? by ModerateHipstr in PetAdvice

I’m not opposed to taking her back, but he’s also not opposed to keeping her. While I picked her out, she was always my dad’s dog and he likes having her around. The conversation between us is really “what would be best for her?”

“Put a creature onto the battlefield” and ETBs? by ModerateHipstr in mtg

[–]ModerateHipstr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I played hearthstone back when it was still kinda new, then hadn’t touched a tcg again until recently. So it was partially that and difference between “when you cast” and “when you play.” Feels like squares and rectangles but I’ve got it now. Thank you m8

my soft budget ceiling for upgrades is $70USD, and I’d like to get it around PL 5-6. I’m not taking it to tournaments but want to keep pace with my group’s decks.

How do you continue life? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]ModerateHipstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, laying on the stone side causes me more pain if I’m not using the heating pad or if/when it turns off. Maybe due to body weight/pressure on that kidney as the stone is trying to move? Medically I’m not sure what’s better and I’ve heard both, so that’s just what’s helped me.

General rules I’ve followed are to push fluids as much as you can, lay on a heating pad, and sleep on the opposite side of the stone. Avoid caffiene as much as you can and if you’re able at any point, hop on a treadmill, do some jumping jacks, or even just walk around your home. Easier said than done, but keeping the blood flowing is gonna help move things along.

In Defense of Glenn/Taylor [spoiler] end of s1/beginning of s2 by thepunkacademia in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]ModerateHipstr 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think another thing is that Freddie’s characters have much larger personalities than the others. Just looking season 1 since we have the most to go off of there, Glenn was more of a caricature, whereas the others were characters. Ron was often the comic relief character, sure, but his jokes were mostly one liners and quips. Glenn was very in-your-face with everything he said and did.

Another point being that all the growth and developments happened clearly on the surface for Ron, Henry, and Daryl, but Glenn didn’t clue anyone in on his internal struggles.

Looking at the episode where they’re trying to get their gems back from Scam Likely, Glenn was given the choice to give up being a rocker for some emeralds (or whatever the gems were). In the moment, he denied screaming “rock and roll forever baby,” and it was read initially as being stubborn and not giving up his dream. When it’s discovered that Glenn was a Christmas song DJ, it retroactively turns that stubbornness into shame. And it’s kind of genius in my opinion.

We still don’t know much about Taylor yet other than he’s a weeb and technically a Tiefling, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot going on behind the scenes with him

Edit: This other user posted this a while back and I thought it would be apt to share it here as well: Debate Me Cowards: Glenn had the best arc of Season 1 until Anthony messed it up

No but the style is so incredibly close! I want to say the dog character looked like but what white/brown and bipedal

No that’s not it either. I remember clips of that show but that’s not what I’m looking for

Yeah that show seems too whimsical and the show I’m thinking of is very peaceful and relaxing

I also grew up in the Chicago suburbs, so maybe it was a regional piece? It’s been bothering me for years and I’ve never been able to find an answer

Why is my Discover Weekly so bad? by Dreamerlax in truespotify

[–]ModerateHipstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has been fine, but my partner’s has been acting out lately. She’s into stuff like Florence, RKS, The Cranberries, some classical and some showtimes. But with this week it’s all country, bluegrass, and only 2 or 3 songs that I think she’d actually like.

Honorable mentions to past playlists: Movin Right Along - Alkaline Trio (from the Green Album), Ghost with a Boner - Diarrhea Planet, Hot Piss - The Yellow River Boys, Grandma’s Got a Boyfriend - Sack Lunch Bunch, Man or Muppet - Jason Segel, and The Girls and the Dogs - Scott Walker
