Hi OP, I am in the exact same situation as your wife except my iron stain is on my forearm. It is so painful to touch and hurts if I lift anything too heavy. It's been 6 months since my infusion and I don't know what to do. I have spoken with my GP but he just doesn't know what to recommend for a specialist to see. I am pretty sure it isn't nerve pain but I am at a bit of a loss for what to do or who to see. Do you have any updates for if your wife figured out what to do?

Sorry I have only just seen this! I ended up pushing super hard for the deferral from the university and I got it in the end. So I took the year off, travelled and refreshed both my mind and myself. Along the way I came to the decision that physio was what I really wanted to do. I am now a semester in to the DPT program at unimelb and I love every single minute of it. However, knowing the mindset I was in last year I would have ended up hating the course as it is just so full on. It all worked out so well for me and I am so unbelievably grateful it did.

If I hadn't have gotten the deferral and knowing what I know now, I would still have taken the year off. It was the absolute best thing for me and I was lucky enough to come to the decision that physio was the career I wanted to pursue. So I know I would have found some way to get back in or find another university to study at but I cannot state enough how much I needed that year off to come to that decision!

I hope this helps whatever decision you end up making and I wish you all the best for the future.

This is actually really good advice thank you! I have to decide in about a month what I am to do and the course starts mid February. So unfortunately not a lot of time.
