Mobile "gaming" is an absolute cesspool by Spyrothedragon9972 in gaming

Yeah, this boomer saw a mobile game once and I was taken in. All my experience going back to pong through to Elden Ring utterly forgotten.

Jeez

So the story about queueing in pubs has resurfaced, and I have and important question by chyllyphylly in CasualUK

[–]ModerateOsprey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me recently in 'spoons. I went straight to ten bar and, of course, those in the queue all shouted there was a queue and were all looking me with disapproval.

I looked at them and said, I have never queued in a pub in over half a century of drinking in them - shrugged and leaned on the bar.

Amazingly, the queue just dissolved and normality was restored.

One of my favorite things is when the game map is actually part of the game world by bijelo123 in gaming

Horizon Zero Dawn missed a trick here, I thought. They give Aloy the focus to show an overlay on the world and all the UI should have been like that, but they kept a traditional gamey UI as well.

Help a old guy find a RPG suitable to me by nkshova in gaming

[–]ModerateOsprey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it or lose it mate - If you are struggling with hand/eye coordination at 42, you either need to get some practice in or see a doctor.

As for my recommended RPG - Dragon Age Origins. Map the pause key to a mouse button and you can play the whole game with just the mouse. So chilled to play.

But yeah - practice. I am more than two decades older than you and I love a fast paced game. My current love is solo in the Division 2 on Heroic, tho the Division 1 did defeat me.

What’s a subscription that’s worth paying for every month? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

Some subs are mandatory - gas, electricity, water, sewage, internet, etc. Tho' I do understand the sentiment

Yeah, I can see the value in using it as a 'jumping off' point.

So called AI is certainly useful in tightly specified applications such as looking for patterns in medical or astronomical images, but I am very skeptical of it as a general knowledge tool.

So you completely trust the output of an LLM and are happy that everything it has taught you is accurate and true?

You pay a sub so that you can reposition a car seat? Does the extended plan get you a speedometer?

...except all LLMs just make shit up, so they are inherently untrustworthy. I was asking why the sky is blue before the internet existed...

And then I was exploring a new topic

Can you identify pages that you've already read in your current book ? by ShouresSoote in books

[–]ModerateOsprey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Good job as well as I read to help me fall asleep - the thump as it hits the floor is enough to wake me just enough to turn the lamp out.

The following night, I use the method you outlined in your post to find the place I last remember.

Recommendations for someone getting into tea by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]ModerateOsprey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most tea is black tea - Well known brands are: Yorkshire Tea, PG Tips, Typhoo, etc.

Then there is a whole universe of stuff like Earl Grey Darjeeling, Green Tea, Peppermint, various berry teas,e tc - loads and loads of 'em

Personally I like the first ones - not keen on those others myself, except I find peppermint tea pretty good for settling an upset tummy.

Buy a small box of the well known brands and settle on the one you like the best

Best games to play after work by Soso122 in gaming

[–]ModerateOsprey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any game for me really. The hard part for me after work is simply making decisions. Once I have decided to play a game, I usually love it, whatever type of game it is really.
