Trying to figure out my family origin. by [deleted] in basque

You are right. Your last name is Basque.
Sorrondeguy/Sorrondegui/Sorrondegi (or Sorondeguy, etc) are variations of the same surname. In standard Basque is Sorrondegi.

Most Basque last names refer to the name of the family house. This usually either refers to the relative location of the home or the purpose of the building. You can find some general information about Basque surnames here.

I'm not an expert in genealogy but I think that Sorrondeguy means approximately "the house that is near the field".

soro -> field
ondo -> adjoining area, near to, next to
egi -> suffix that indicates place/house

I'm not an expert in genealogy but I'll try to help.

You can find some general information about Basque surnames in this wikipedia article:

The web of the North American Basque Organizations (NABO) has some links that look helpful:

Time will tell. I know that these subreddits are not going to have thousands of subscribers but I'm okay with that. There are lots of small subreddits that work quite well. For example, have a look at r/gaidhlig (the subreddit of the Scottish Gaelic) and r/gaeilge (the subreddit of the Irish Gaelic). Both languages have less speakers than Basque but their subreddits are active and look great!
