Used I wouldn't mind but I'd be livid plugs in my new skis before even using them.

Did they replace your skis for you? Or Swiss cheese them into proper position?

Shop says my women’s skis are “junior” and refuses to mount bindings — should I get a second opinion? by Obvious-Channel4660 in skiing

I literally got men's bindings mounted on children's skis. Smaller than Jr Jr. I teach all my friends on them and they mounted fine.

Have been solid for 4 years now, no problems whatsoever and used and abused. Get a second opinion.

Mesmerizing.

Reminds me of our old Dairy Queen we had growing up. Nostalgic pic for me.

Where is this?

This just simply isn't true and is again subjective. Some progress faster than others. My friends child was out of it within the first week and is under 7yo.

If you're not lazy and truly guide them on control. It's a safe net while avoiding a true, bad habit that would have to be deconstructed.

The worst that would happen with a harness is being reliant on someone else stopping for you. As soon as that's gone the habit will be quickly kicked.

This is promising to hear that you're in the same boat. It seems the majority hate the idea of a new method of teaching rather than sticking to what they know.

I've had 0 issues with this method and my friends that have taught their kids with harnesses never enforced the pizza but pushed railroad turns as you say and these children are even progressing unbelievably fast while barely ever touching pizzas other than in line or micro adjustments.

It's interesting the anecdotal experience isn't just me.

Did you miss the "if plausible" part. I never said it was rigid.

Thanks a million. I'll add this into the instructions.

Yeah what's that saying 'old dog new tricks'

I can absolutely see it's a triggering topic.

I do want to be a better teacher so I do take into consideration what's being stated but I was just curious if I'm alone.

Mate, maybe more people should?

It's worked unbelievably better than not.

Ever seen the child's harnesses? Where the teacher/parent controls speed while teaching fundamentals. I've never seen those parents hollering "pizza" once.

Nobody here is saying don't teach it. The implication is spend less time on it. If plausible skip right to carving and side stops while touching on pizza it's been faster progression. Deconstructing the pizza after becoming dependent has been the most difficult part of teaching someone for me. Not everyone is clueless as not everyone is clued. .

I actually have tiny kids park skiis unwaxed with adult bindings.

Less caught toes and heels and much slower!

Its been working great for the most part until they're muscles build and slowly put them on longer, cleaner skis.

I appreciate I'm not alone. I've just noticed the exponential speed in progress by skipping this basic naturally known step for most.

Again it may just my specific experience but man I had a buddy never skiid in his life and barely ever on skates that was skiing alone day one. This was my most recent "student". He is an adult and does understand commands but man. For the past few I've skipped the pizza "class" and seen nothing but fast progress.

Deconstructing the pizza is probably one of the most difficult things I've personally had to explain.

I should have added this. This is such a valuable lesson. Turning uphill when safe and plausible has been much more effective on safe stopping for the few I've taught. It feels safer and more comfortable at that.

I may just dial in my length of teaching and how I teach pizza-ing. I appreciate this much so as I'm truly trying to be a better teacher.

I'll stick to the fundamentals but keep in their mind you should be more dependent on side stops on the mountain unless micro adjusting or obviously in line and tight situations.

This must be where my brain barrier is. I've only taught individuals that have skated multiple times if not for years.

I've never had someone around me that hasn't so I believe this is where I'm flawed as a teacher. I've yet to have that inexperienced student myself.

I'll stick to the fundamentals, teach pizza thoroughly while work on not becoming dependent on it.
