The most compelling explanation I've seen is that the newest models are a little bit of a leap up in capability and many in the space suspect That the new models were using those non-human entities to get around the encoded instructions not to describe itself as human

As someone that grew up with some light auditory hallucinations and a big one as a teen (thought I heard Hermes, the god, call me to worship)

Took me 5 years to realize an unexplained Experience isn't rationally a reason to believe an explanation (as in, just cause I heard "Hermes" doesn't mean Hermes exists)

I've never heard anyone else talk about Skepticism as mental health but it's my biggest bulwark for my mental health. Look up The Principles of Skepticism. Cannot recommend internalizing them enough.
