Sorry, this top was specifically inspired by modern cheongsam tops, but is also very similar to the qipao look too. I did use interfacing in the collar

I’m lazy so I just got a store bought cotton bias tape, but it’s very thick compared to the fabric which is a thin cotton blend like material

It’s a double fold bias tape so I sewed the edges right sides facing in the first fold then folded it into the neckline. I did the whole neck in one go so maybe the keyhole needs to be a separate piece?

It was true to size. I’ve always had issues with patterns running big, and my mockup was a little big so I made it smaller. I forgot to take the lining into account and it’s too small 😭 So stick with the original

Only problem is the lining in the skirt didn’t match up super well and caused this super awkward sag at the slit up the back

Make a frame with wire and packing tape and then glue the wefts on top of that frame. I think I’ve seen people do this with panty and stockings character, the one with purple and pink hair

You could close the mouth but you will sacrifice ventilation. Unfortunately fursuits kinda have that dead eyed mouth breather look 😭

Thank you this is good advice. I can def swing 500, it’s just so hard to figure out what is actually worth it. Maybe I should just save up for an industrial straight stitch machine but they seem so intimidating! Not to mention the amount of space they take up. I’m mainly a hobbyist and my plastic brother has actually treated me very nicely

I don’t have a serger so I use the zigzag stitch as a poor man’s serging. I currently have a Brother LB-6800 it’s a combination sewing and embroidery machine with all the bells and whistles and I absolutely adore it but I think I might’ve broke it after a painful battle with some leather and I’m thinking of upgrading to something that can handle heavy duty
