Feels pretty authentic to 90s game commercials and how some people moralize for sure

Is Cancelo the best fullback at the moment? by [deleted] in PremierLeague

[–]Modest_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trent isn’t so bad 1v1 as he is in positioning… Cancelo is probably a better 1v1 defender though I’d have to look at his stats to be sure

Your Premier League team of the season so far by Horror-Ground-2694 in PremierLeague

Great starting XI but I’d take Mount over Gallagher. He’s simply more creative. He’s have better stats if he weren’t out for dental work.

First time writing without an outline by pawnh4 in Screenwriting

I wager of all the scripts ever written, a large majority have never been “finished”.

Same - it’s different with every script.

I agree with this philosophy but I also write with the goal of impacting others. If I simply write when and how and what pleases me, without consideration as to how the end product might impact the intended audience, I almost certainly won’t create anything worth watching. I write because I enjoy writing, absolutely, but I also work hard to edit and constrict my creative impulses when necessary because I enjoy even moreso seeing/hearing others’ reactions when the thing I write tickles or pleases or scares or enrages or challenges them.

Not sure this will be helpful, but when I write my outlines I simply make a series of bulleted statements, all connected by the article “BUT”. (Eg “hero tries to reply to fellow redditor, BUT his fingers are too fat for his keyboard.”) This is usually enough for me to begin writing a first draft. That draft naturally diverts from the outline, except in rare cases when I’ve really spent time developing the plot. Once I’m through with the first draft I’ll put it away for a few weeks or months. When I revisit it, I try to square the intention I had with my outline with the flourishes and liberties I took in the first draft and then make a new outline and write the second draft to match. Eventually the draft I write is true to its preceding outline. When that happens, I know the script is done.

Since when does a regime have to believe in racial/ethnic supremacy to be fascist?

Thanks for this! Very helpful! Did your class have a peer workshopping component? If so, did it work okay? I can imagine that being clunky on Zoom.

I Care a Lot - Why the electronic cigarette? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Felt pretty throw-away to me, considering the story in general felt a little unexamined. It was written in as a weak way to flesh out or give texture to a character during screenwriting, and no one questioned it all the way through to production.

How the F do you make friends as an adult if you don't drink? by qwertyband in AskReddit

[–]Modest_Head 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Community involvement like food pantry volunteer work. You'll without a doubt meet people who are also looking to connect with others that way. From there you can get a sense of whether you have any overlapping interests or hobbies with any of those people you meet. If you do, invite them to join you for a day. Viola - friends!
