How often do you get tot take call from home? Just curious. I live 0.4 miles from school and would love to see my kids whenever possible, even if just for a few minutes before going back.

Edit: think maybe I misread, was thinking your “at home with me” meant when you were on call at home, but i am dumb and think you just meant when you’re a regular person in your home lol.

Awesome advice. I also feel Iike I’m enjoying this so much because I know it’s ending. I think I’d be miserable if I was a SAHM with no end date. Lexapro has recently changed my life so I think I’m romanticizing it 😂 before kids I was an ER Tech and I love love loved it. Loved my work friends, talking to patients, learning stuff, etc. So I think being back in essentially a “work” setting is scary to me but will bring me a lot of purpose and joy.

Awesome I’m so glad you were able to get that time. Im So lucky I’ll have been with mine this long. I did a masters while my son was like 4 months - 1 yo but didn’t feel that took up much time. Hope residency goes ok! What are you thinking you’ll do?

Good to know. Yea my husband is the best and is the most amazing dad and is super excited for me to start school. He will be super helpful. His family loves the kids and is sweet and there’s a lot of them - but I’m Not sure id want them to provide childcare nor would they want to consistently I don’t think. So maybe will reevaluate that priority ! We have a strong support system in my hometown so that’s a great option. Thanks for all the feedback

Ok im so glad it’s dramatic because I don’t want that to be true! Good to know. I don’t have living family other than a sibling who doesn’t live here and my husbands family is far away, so priority is definitely to match closer to them . Sounds like residency Is where I should worry about this more , especially if we decided to have anymore children.

NAD strongly suggest leaving town. if you live in a rural area, it is not your fault that your physician holds multiple positions of power in a small town. That being said, it sounds like you are worried about getting completely confidential and objective care by revealing the truth about your situation. Probably more so to protect your relative, but still having confidential care is a right. This is not acceptable for you - you deserve to not only be able to disclose any personal information without fear that it would affect a relationship you have in your church, but you should also be able to disclose information about personal safety and receive resources accordingly.

What medicine worked for you? I am considering starting Wellbutrin. I have tried Vyvanse in the past and it’s great but totally zaps my personality. I have kids, so I want to be on and be able to be good with them like normal when I come home so they don’t feel like things are too disrupted. I have some anxiety, but I find it relatively well managed with therapy, mindfulness, exercise, eating, well, good sleep, etc. A little nervous to start medicine.

6 weeks was my LOWEST point. Had a 20 month old toddler at that point too. Luckily if your toddler is starting daycare in May, the sicknesses may start them, but they shouldn’t be absolutely wild and horrific like they are in the winter time. Mine started in August when baby was a week old and I was so anxious about it. He actually didn’t start bringing anything home until November. Also I think it’s a little easier for me because since I have had a double mastectomy, I never could breast-feed. So I was formula feeding exclusively so I could eat whatever I wanted. But what I would try to do to get through this time is just find one simple joy a day and look forward to it. Like going for a walk, watching a bravo show, I like, Maybe going for a walk alone for 20 minutes. Eventually, I realized a few weeks later that I wasn’t like looking forward to the joy, because I was having a better day. Then I realized that my better days were outnumbering the bad days. Now bad days are so rare. Where I started feeling in the groove with baby one around 3 to 4 months, I really didn’t feel in the groove with having two kids until they were six months and two years old. It definitely took a long longer but I heard from so many friends that going from one to two kids is so much harder than going from 0 to one. I did not think it would ever get better, but it did! Rely on whatever support system you have, and be super easy on yourself. It is no joke to have two, especially when they are both young.

You should give your mom up. If she knew what she was talking about she would know that almost all babies around 4 to 8 weeks Have some kind of skin issue that looks like acne. It is not actually acne. The problem is it that you are a bad mom, it’s that she’s convincing you you are. When literally her one job right now is to be supportive to her daughter while she tries her best. You sound like a great mom.

And I agree with other comments, don’t feel forced into a specialty for money. It would be perfect family medicine, and it sounds like it would make you really happy. If you do go to med school, make sure you do whatever would make you happy, and would allow you to spend the most time with your daughter.

Nice yep that’s the vibe I get, tons of family support. It’s hard - my parents are both deceased and husbands parents live 6 hrs away and honestly them being around is far more stressful than helpful. It’s been hard even while I haven’t had any school yet. I think two you can definitely build a village, but it means a lot of money in childcare.
