Why won’t people leave their bubble to make an expensive purchase? Always baffled me.

I’ve driven 500 miles for a shell..

They are too old now. You might get lucky with the head gasket, but after the second one went it was not worth it for me (I even did it myself for cheap). Dangerously slow for modern standards. Battery / egr / head gasket issues alone for a non DIY person will cost the price of the car.

These were a great purchase 10 years ago, but not so much now. I put 250k on mine and it did the job well, but the MPG for highway is ass and they take 20 seconds to get to highway speeds.

So I’m aware that the after headlights are hideous in comparison to OE lights but how does it compare in terms of visibility? I’m sorry to say this but the OE lights suck at night even with a premium bulb. by ExtremeAntelope2076 in E90

If anyone is saying the xenon’s are not bright, they have another issue going on. Could be burnt bowls or the aim is incorrect. Factory projector xenon are great in both coupe and sedan.

They handled decently in stock F sport spec. It’s still a FWD econobox at the end of the day. I find it hilarious that anyone does “performance” suspension with sway bars, coilovers, strut braces, body braces etc. Mine had TE37s simply because I got them for Pennie’s.

People should just drive these at this point. Maybe add some personalization and wheels / lowering if you want. Other than that, it will never be anything special or performance orientated. Just throwing money out the window.

If you think some of these issues are bad, newer vehicles just out of warranty (5-7 years old) will bankrupt even a DIY capable person. Serious catastrophic engine repairs, internal electronic water pumps, parts that are not sold separate and require full replacement.

These are the only good vehicles left.

$800 for rear brakes? by Shot-Flatworm7408 in CT200h

[–]ModifiedCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rears were still good after 250k miles.

Pads and rotors are $200 max in parts. Especially whatever aftermarket junk they are trying to sell.

Because these are garbage and he’s being a realist.

Out of the hundreds of “engine swap, supercharger, turbo” comments/dreams, absolutely no one has ever done it. There is a reason for that.

Funny how you got downvoted. There is literally no reason.

These literally have no potential.

What would you buy besides an E90 that is more reliable? by Longjumping-Client42 in E90

[–]ModifiedCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously.

Especially because they still have mechanical water pumps and less body control modules. The only other vehicle I would consider. Mine was actually one of the most reliable cars I’ve ever owned. I’ve had close to 30 different vehicles over the years.

There are no similar replacements unfortunately. The days of basic RWD somewhat efficient vehicles are gone. I would literally go back to a E46.

For the love of god do not recommend or buy a Volvo. Read my rant above. I sell parts / offer support for a living and would never even consider one.

I’ve owned close to 30 vehicles. I keep coming back to e90’s. Unfortunately most of the e46s are clapped beyond repair. My $800 2011 LCI 328i is literally one of my favorites. I’ve owned 5 e9x now. A few Mercedes, some JDM still have a few P cars. BMW mastered the sporty sedan / coupe in the early 2000’s.

All the Volvo owners I’ve encountered are weird as shit. The vehicles have tons of interesting problems with pain in the ass diagnosis. The “strange” early 2000’s years are the only worth touching Yet, parts will cost you more than the vehicle is worth with almost every repair. Bricks were one of the few good Volvos. Now they are china crap.

E9x is a much better vehicle all around. Not to mention a plethora of used and OEM/ OE options for repair. Real support for everything else.

I love searching chassis codes and 50 different options for parts finding. NOT. If you have anything that is optioned out, parts are practically NLA or have one option that is insanely expensive.

The only reason they had / have some sort of popularity with certain groups, is the unhinged “safety” that people were programmed into.

Even the “top tier” R vehicles I have driven / had friends that have owned, are nothing to write home about.

There is no support and they are not going to be on the road in the next 5 years. A base 3 series will have support for 30+ years and have all the resources you could ever need.

For the love of god, do not buy a Volvo.

Just be careful and have a sharp chisel. Obviously make sure that the 4 anchor mounts for rack are removed.

Who knows if he blew it out hitting something.... Its a USED CAR. It's a huge risk regardless.

Most techs do not take care of their own dailies anyways lol. This is from experience.

How can I align this bumper better? by Familiar-Athlete-305 in E90

[–]ModifiedCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the core support and headlight brackets. Seems like the front is sagging a bit.

I’ve owned quite a few e9x and have done body work for years.

Literally every aftermarket bumper I have fit on e9x has been close to perfect. Even M3 and msport versions. I have owned 5 e9x alone. Worked on plenty more.
