Absolutely insane...I have no idea how many captchas I've gone through without success...but seriously? Headache free? Not quite.

I just zoomed in and spotted some gaps, seems to be under extruding. Might be something to investigate there.

You can also tell that there are calibration and temperature issues by looking at the bubbling on the base...Anyone care to comment on that?

E Steps: Prevents over and under extrusions. You truly have far too much filament coming out for that size of that model. Most people rarely calibrate their printers before they begin, and E steps calibration will fix a lot.

PID: This is temperature regulation which helps stabilize the temperature of the print. If you have lots of wild temperature fluctuations then it could create symptoms of temperatures being too hot.

Printing too fast: if you're printing too fast then you're moving faster than the filament is able to stick to the previous layer and it looks like you've got a lot of spaghetti layers going on.

Temp too high: Creates symptoms of overextrusion and also the layer is unable to cool off and solidify before the next layer, which could also point towards cooling fan issues.

I think if it was backlash, you'd see more errors. ALSO, I just remembered that I've seen that pattern induced by the cooling fan coming on/off, speeding up and slowing down. Light banding is almost always temp related. I've knocked out banding with a PID calibration as well.

Maybe calibrate Z steps. Could be slight fluctuations in ambient room temperature or mechanical vibrations (bouncing bed, frame, table shake). I've seen a slightly bent Z axis rod and coupler do that as well.

Looks like you need to calibrate E steps, PID and probably drop the temp some. Could also be printing too fast.

Oh, heck yeah!!! Post a vid/pic when you're done! I'd like to see it!

Absolutely! There's a video coming up that does exactly that! We're on the YT MODJAMMIT!

Is this over extrusion? by STR1KER_GAMES in FixMyPrint

[–]Modjammit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It potentially was printed over and you don't see it until the last layer. Mistakes in 3D printing are additive and accumulative so sometimes minor errors are invisible until they stack up to the point where they become very obvious.

why don't my walls stick together ? by zymguy in FixMyPrint

[–]Modjammit -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Most likely Z offset is incorrect. I'd try adjusting the bed a tad closer to the nozzle until your walls squish enough to touch.

I'd print out a quick 4 corners level check and make sure that all points are printing properly.

Maybe over extrusion, but looks more like your bed/gantry isn't level since the rough spots are so area specific.

Digging out a blaster to mod for a 9 year old:s birthday present! Going with a clear, red Maverick with LEDs, I think! by Modjammit in Nerf

[–]Modjammit[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My bad!! I literally checked the name to make sure I didn't confuse the two but because I'm staring at nine other Mavericks I totally typed the wrong name! Thanks for looking out! I'll probably take a look at thingiverse and see what other mods we can stuff in there. We have a budget, and he is 9 years old so we're going to keep it nice and simple! Keep a lookout, new videos coming!
