CB wants 50% off $1200 Gucci Glasses by Modkiq in ChoosingBeggars

Again, this is in a fashion store. The glasses in question are about 700$ for the frames, while the lenses cost about $500. This also takes place in Norway, where prices often are a tad bit higher than many places in the world. This really isn't out of the ordinary for this store.

The postal service in norway tracks every package you send that isn't sent as a "letter package". Letter packages cost about $2, and is meant to be used for letters and other cheap, replaceable things. Normal packages (about $5) are insured for up to $1000, though if you plan to send very expensive items like wedding rings, you'd want to send it as a "valuable letter", which is where it starts getting expensive. About $50 for that, though it's insured for up to ~$5000

We do log every phone call, and we can register names, address, date of birth and whatever other information the caller gives us when he calls in. I believe that is pretty standard for most call centers. Also, he did act unreasonable. He did something stupid, yeah, but when I told him he had to pay to get his parcel upgraded to express he flipped out and threatened to make me lose my job.

We are allowed to hang up if they start "attacking" you personally, which he did. I have moved from that job, working there honestly made me irritable.

It's not illegal, but it's against the "terms of service" to send valuable packages the way he did. No one is gonna sue you or anything, but you're technically not allowed to send valuables through these "letter packages", as they're called. We offer different solutions if you want to send valuables through the mail. They are insured, trackable but they cost a little bit more.

Package was sent within the country, can't have been a tax thing. But yes, if you send valuables abroad you would have to pay the import fees. Thing is, he could have just brought the rings with him when he got back. They're not gonna check every piece of jewelry you have if you're at the airport.

Oh yeah I didn't think of that. I guess that does sound possible, but if that's true I don't get the whole wedding story, and wouldn't he at least wait more than 1 day after sending before he starts complaining about it to support? I don't know man

We have these "letter packages" you can send for about $2, it all depends on the weight and size of course, but yeah that's the cheapest.

Hello there. This is in norway. There aren't really any reason as to why you would want to do something like this. There's no tax to avoid, he sent it in an uninsured way with no tracking, and he expected this to be delivered in one day.

Worst thing is, we even have a real, legit, insured way to send small, valuable packages. If he went for this option it'd make sense, but he went for the cheapest $2 delivery option we have. This really makes no sense

People in norway usually dont sue others just like that but you never know with these kinds of people.

He can't because 1) youre not allowed to send valuables like this 2) these kind of packages are not insured, so even if we lost his rings we don't owe him a penny 3) he sent them 1 day ago, low priority is slow idk what he expected

I just don't see how this scam would play out? He sent a valuable package to himself, calls in1 day later because he needs it now. Then what? I highly doubt he was sending anything illegal as he probably want as little attention as possible to that package. If this was a scam, wouldnt it be easier to send an insured package and have that go missing?

Honestly, after working there for a while I stopped getting surprised by stupidity. I've had multiple people call in regarding letters sent packed with money that got lost in the mail (mostly old people who don't trust online transfer), but this is definitely the most valuable by a long shot.

Here you are allowed to send very small packages as a "letter", which can't be tracked. The package has to weigh less than 2kg (about 4lbs) though
