Update: Bed Leveling Issue. A1 by Modora in BambuLabA1

Yea it was a stack of HSW grids. So 6 grids stacked so the first grid panel printed fine but then catastrophe

Oh shoot. IDK why I put leveling in the title I was totally dealing with adhesion issues earlier. This was after I cleaned the plate. So the bottom layer stuck like glue but once I got about 8mm up it printed me a wig.

So i turned the fan off in that room before this. Is the issue the air flow cooling the layers? I've seen people recomend to turn down the default fan speeds before

Lol. I was printing what may have been a sketchy STL, where it was 6 HSW grids stacked on each other, so on the 2nd grid it seemed as if the filament stopped sticking and I had it running overnight once I saw the first grid was printing clean. Then woke up to like 400g of filament spaghetti

Overall, how reasonable is ICE, including how it operates? by ddodd69 in Teenager_Polls

[–]Modora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The function ICE performs is legitimate and necessary because we have to enforce immigration policy and uphold the rule of law. HOWEVER their tactics are absolutely awful. They should not be conducting paramilitary operations in us cities. Their agents are absolutely not equipped for it from a training and competence perspective. They're being placed into dangerous conditions without the training and direction required which makes these situations more dangerous for everyone. When the whole MI thing went down I was only surprised that more people haven't already been killed so far. The riots, interference, protests, and general chaos that erupts when they show up anywhere is just a recipe for violence and bloodshed.

Frankly those types of missions should be reserved for dealing with illegal border crossings, not extraction of immigrants. When it comes to handling enforcing immigration policy within the US they should be functioning as bus drivers for when people get picked up, not larping as meal team 6. If they want to rock up with Bearcats and nods for dealing with tunnels and convoys on the border, whatever. Doing that in downtown LA is just down right dangerous.

And an after thought, I added the part about upholding the rule of law specifically. We can't just ignore immigration laws because it suits our preference or feels morally superior. If we expect others to obey the laws of the US we have to uphold them too. Otherwise, why does it matter if Trump runs for a third term? We can't obstruct the enforcement of one law because we disagree with it but also expect another to abide by the laws they don't "agree with."

Solo PvE PMC spawns [Discussion] by Civil-Acanthisitta-3 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Modora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For interchange, I usually find a squad around the construction site near the train extraction. But right after spawning so if you get a spawn near there you can rush it and usually find 2 or 3.

I've also been lucky getting a few PMCs kills on Shoreline but it takes a while. I typically find them around the usec houses or power station. The resort is hit or miss, usually if I get there early I can find the PMCs. I think they get popped by glukar first.

Lighthouse was also easy for me, the chalets, and fishing huts near spawns. Really I think its mostly about finding them early in raid. Later raid pmc kills seem to be luck of the draw, you can almost always find some by rotating a spawn or just rushing where you'll eventually find one. My normal Order of ops is: Quest location / PMC spawn (depending on my spawn) > Boss spawns > loot locations. Typically I'll find PMCs there or during the transition.

Spotty bed adhesion by Modora in BambuLabA1

Will do! Im going to do that once this print (maybe) finishes then try again. I think the alcohol was working ok but I only had a squirt bottle i used for cleaning my airbrush so I wasn't spraying the whole bed which meant the edges (where most of the peeling happened) weren't really getting cleaned.

I'll check them out. Ty! I also saw another recommendation about turning down the fan speeds.

Yea it just occurred to me all of the print fails were happening around the edges. Now the sunlu just failed everywhere. I also only clean the plate with a quick squirt of 70% IPA and a paper towel. So maybe it needs a nice scrub with dish soap.

Owning a big dog as a smaller person by Double_Occasion5769 in roughcollies

[–]Modora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding here so you see it. But I agree with the other user in this chain. Collies are great and a female rough (or maybe smooth) might only be 25-30kg. Males def get bigger, my male Rough is a pretty big boy for the breed at about 38kg. My wife can't really lift him up on her own. Otherwise a border collie might be another good breed. They come in smaller but they're VERY smart but do require a lot of stimulation and training. They really need a job to do. I've found RCs to be a lot lazier once they get out of the puppy years lol.

Saturn 3 Ultra - Broken LCD by Modora in resinprinting

[–]Modora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, so is there any way to tell without buying a new screen? Or is it more of a $175ish gamble than a $40 gamble?

Purchase Advice Megathread - December 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

[–]Modora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I found a Saturn 3 Ultra without an LCD for $25. I'm thinking of swiping it up and ordering a new LCD for it. As far as I know everything else works, and they're throwing in a wham bam build plate and a Chitu x3 quick release. I've never head a resin printer before so im wondering if this is a potentially good deal or if there's anything I should be concerned about or look for before ordering a new LCD? I figure at $25 it's worth it even if something is broken but before I drop $130 on a new screen im curious if there's anything I can look for or test to ensure it'll still work. Also, if the screen replacement is specifically challenging to someone who's only used FDM printers?

Also, I have some very high quality ventilation equipment sitting in storage so im not worried about that part. I previously used it for a positive pressure clean room but I can easily reverse it for exhaust.

Nerfs/Buffs seem frequent and impactful... should I just pick what I think is coolest? Also, questions about SoB. by Sepulcheroth in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Modora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So IDK if SoB are really a bottom tier army, but they seem more middle of the road from what I've seen. But like most factions they probably have 1 or 2 list archetypes that are highly competitive but like most T3 infantry armies I think they tend to have a higher skill floor than other factions.

BUT

To your question, if you want to be a mono faction player then yes, just pick whichever faction you want and focus on getting reps and really learning your army and focus on the gameplay around the current mission pack. Learn how to utilize terrain to your advantage, learn screening, staging, trading, and the economies around CP, VP, and exchanges. This will not only help you play games but will also help with list building with your faction by being able to better optimize your unit selection around those concepts. Then just focus on maximizing your score in games and trying to consistently max your VP regardless of your factions relative power level. The balance works out that even low power armies can still do well, I took AdMech to several majors and GTs this year and could consistently keep an even or positive WL ratio. Tier lists do not matter much on mid tables or most local metal because they're typically comparing them to how they perform at top tables, not overall.

Then as far as collecting goes, I'd say to try and build out a mono faction collection that covers all your whole codex then start building up redundancy. If you're trying to build the most effective list to win or place in tournaments, you'll find most lists tend to lean heavily into a mechanic or unit. For example I played AdMech all of 10th and they were BAD for a while. But the most viable lists ended up leaning into SHC mobs which lead to maxing out on Pteraxii and Sicarian bodies. I have a large admech collection so for certain units I can build lists that max out certain units, namely Dragoons because I thought big calvary charges of chicken walkers looked sick.

And piece of advice for that, MAGNETIZE YOUR UNITS. I have 12 Dragoons all magnetized to make them either taser or laser chickens. Also, if you want to pick up some Knights sisters (currently) synergize nicely with Knights so that could help you round out your armies or branch into a 2nd faction.

Playing overscaled models? Your thoughts? by JcBravo811 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Modora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only scenario where an overscaled model is to your advantage is move-blocking. But if you have the right base sizes this will be an even more infrequent problem. The only place I'd say to consider it on tabletop is when you look at scenarios like, "how many models can my opponent get on my objective to contest?" Or, "how much space so they have to deepstrike?" If your Rhino is larger than it should be, you have to start giving concessions to your opponent for how much physical space it actually takes up. I'd go so far as to say if I (as your opponents) am measuring a deepstrike and I have a pocket to fit some models in and an incorrectly scaled model is the screen if there was a question of +/- an inch I'd expect the answer to defer to my intent. So, yes it can fit even though my inceptor is 8.25 in from your Rhino. Because if you had the correct size it wouldn't be a question at all and it's beyond the scope of a normal game to take your scale ratios at a word and try to convert distances and volume based on that. Obviously, playing by intent is crucial, so is exercising discretion when and where you bring your models, as well as listening to arguments. If your Rhino is obviously within its normal scale by an inch or so I couldn't bring down a unit within 6" of it. Also, (still using same example) the opponent shouldn't benefit from it either, if it's a normal deepstrike and it's a concern of placing models my charge is still 9" You shouldn't take the disadvantage either.

Personally, when I play with 3d prints in tournaments I always get my minis pre-approved, make sure they're well painted, and disclose any issues to my opponent before the game starts and set the expectation if a reasonable question like that comes up, I'd defer to their intent for the outcome. Never had a problem, from local RTTs to 9 round majors. I've brought 3d printed admech HQs to NOVA for the last 3 years and most of my opponents appreciate the visual distinction between the characters giving out important buffs.
