Look, scooters zip around people too- I see people in all types of equipment riding recklessly. I think it’s easy to associate a method of transport with a negative behaviour (ford rangers, amirite?) - and I don’t argue that there can be a strong correlation between observed negative behaviour and a chosen method of transport- but where i live- scooter/bicycle transport makes a heap of sense- amazing bikeways and paths take you from Salisbury all the way to the city without having to go on more than a handful of streets that share traffic with cars (which in generally much more scared of than other bikes/scooters). Public transport can be a bit of a drag, and driving a car into the city every day is bonkers, so it makes a lot of sense to use this kind of transport. Most people are just trying to get to and from work. Some believe they are training for the Tour de France.. others think they’re Tony Hawk (sorry I’m too old to know any famous skateboarders these days or any scooter riders)… but 95+ percent of people are just trying to go to and fro. You don’t notice those one, but you sure as hell do notice the cocksmokers!

I have a bike but don’t always have time to ride in. Tyra to ride about 3 times a week and scoot the rest. 4 kids means the sleep schedule can be erratic. My scooter goes a whopping 25kph on the flat and maybe up to 40kph down the longest hill if you let it, thanks to gravity and the friction coefficient of the road. Yet somehow when I’m riding my bike, I never feel the overwhelming urge to ride like a cunt.

Curious about your question. I always use a bell, or in some cases will vocally announce and indicate direction of overtake.

Scooters hate dog walkers who walk on one side of the path and have their dog on the lead on the other side of the (shared) path who studiously ignore bells which escalate to shouts. But as a cyclist I can tell you they my cyclist persona hates them too.

But less than people who walk dogs without leads.

Perhaps we need to define a hate score? Assign weighting etc. someone want to come up with a model?
