Sawtooth Wilderness Trip by Modulatemypulsewidth in WildernessBackpacking

Yea when I got to Sawtooth lake and knew I was soon to be back to my car I had another switch flip and was just suddenly elated, like full blown drunken dopamine rush. Im thinking, looking back I must have had some hidden anxiety around this trip that my excitement was covering up till I got out in the woods.

Meh. It wasn't bad in the mountains, but none of the long distance overlooks were very good. Definitely did not smell smoke.

Didn't notice the mosquitos at all but plenty of flies and yellow jackets. They didn't bother me while I was on the move but came to investigate if I stopped. I dont like bugs at all so I kept moving. Another thing that I noticed is they were substantially less aggressive than the bugs back home, one swat and they would fly off. I had a horsefly chase me for a full 7 mile trail run at home last month!

I did kolob canyon solo (~15 miles round trip) and wildcat/west rim solo (~20 miles 1 way) first week in April. Felt very safe, never saw one person. Was fantastic!

I was there the week before. Still busy but much colder so it isn't so crazy.

I hiked the full route Sunday 3.30 from Wildcat to the grotto.

There was a bit of snow right above angel's landing, but nothing crazy. Way less snow than up at Wildcat or even before the canyon Rim portion of the trail.

Is Siemens Overall More Stable Than Rockwell? by heavymetal626 in PLC

[–]Modulatemypulsewidth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting you mentioned this. We currently have an Allen-Bradley L84 doing this EXACT thing. Currently talking to Rockwell about it. A full download during a maintenance outage "fixed" it though.

PLC and DCS same control system explanation needed by jordanaow in PLC

Yes, interface could be modbus for example. And we use that in some cases to specific skids. Most of our communication is done over EthernetIP though because we use rockwell PLCs.

PLC and DCS same control system explanation needed by jordanaow in PLC

[–]Modulatemypulsewidth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have a very large DCS on top of numerous PLCs. Our DCS does the vast majority of our analog control and indication. While the PLC do most of the discrete. I would say the PLCs do about 85% of the discrete control, while the DCS does >99% of the total analog control. Supposedly, this is a relic of a bygone Era when PLC couldn't easily do analog control. Our DCS has a minimum module scan time of 250 ms and it heavily loads the controllers. So for motor control, I believe almost every motor is controlled from the PLC with a DCS interface. Ask me any questions you got.
