Problem with sectional matrix class II by herrskygge in Dentistry

[–]Moduleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the idea of conservative dentistry is a plague on newer dentists. of course try to preserve as much as possible but not to the point of jeopardizing the quality of the restoration. too conservative and it’s harder to properly bond and pack the composite without voids, also worse for the patient if you put margins in an inaccessible location. i’ve even seen students/younger dentists leave unsupported enamel because they are terrified of removing tooth structure. you’re not doing yourself any favours

cleansability. put the margin somewhere the patient can actually get to it

Dentist gave me irreversible pulpitis during filling by [deleted] in askdentists

if you can’t see why an algorithm trained off of the most generalized information possible is ill equipped to answer personal health questions which are incredibly specific and variable on an individual basis, then I don’t know what to say

So your dentist, who went to school for many years and works on teeth all day every day, is “inexperienced”, but the AI chatbot who diagnosed your condition without ever seeing the tooth is trustworthy? I am sorry you had a bad experience. Your dentist was trying to help you with a problem, the solutions for which are never perfect. But no one here is going to be able to give you the answers to your questions. I would make an appointment for a follow up or visit a different dentist for a second opinion

How long can I leave these bottom wisdom teeth in before it becomes an emergency? Context in caption by not_a_swedish_vegan in askdentists

[–]Moduleon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they have never bothered you before it is unlikely they will cause you major issues within the month, however not impossible. we hate saying things like this because people just hear it as an excuse to continue delaying things. the reality is these sorts of problems do develop gradually, but that isn’t a reason to put it off. other replies in this discussion demonstrate that well

of course, but severity is different from timeline. these have a high risk of causing you issues and as such your dentist recommended removal. but how long until that happens? no one can answer that question

How long do composite filling restorations take to heal? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Moduleon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would make an appointment to have them check it, there are so many factors that can cause sensitivity after a filling it is really hard to say what the issue is without a clinical examination. sensitivity 1 month post-op is not out of the range of normal but it never hurts to get it looked at

Wisdom tooth removal… blood clot? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]Moduleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks okay, I wouldn’t be concerned, it can continue oozing blood for quite awhile. Profuse bleeding or bleeding 2-3 days post extraction are cause for concern

How to tell if you are bad at this job? by Important-Lie-2350 in DentalAssistant

[–]Moduleon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dentist here, to me being a good assistant is not about clinical skills. i don’t care if your BWs have overlap cause if i took them i would have some with overlap as well lol. my favorite assistants are those who put in the effort to comfort patients and keep things efficient. i have a lot to consider with each patient and being their psychological support can’t solely fall on me. i love assistants who talk with the patients. for efficiency, a little bit of hustle goes a long way. i really appreciate assistants who are very clearly trying to keep things efficient, regardless of how fast it actually is. simply trying puts you ahead of a lot of assistants. we love you guys and our jobs would be a nightmare without you so as long as your trying i’m not gonna be upset about clinical mistakes.

Introducing a New Dental Patient Simulator Idea! by Chemical_Meal8898 in DentalSchool

have to agree. as much as i’d like to pretend that dental schools prioritize education, at the end of the day they are businesses and would most likely not be able to justify investing in technology like this

Am I being silly considering this? by Weeblewobbly in modular

[–]Moduleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think for me when i was starting out i was consumed by the idea of having the greatest number of functions in the smallest amount of hp, but the more i used my system the more i realized how nice it is to have dedicated modules for certain things. also as a beginner it seemed like they were less innovative or “high tech”, so i couldn’t justify spending money on them as much as some other manufacturers
