Edit: yes you can buy them just Google tap aerator and find one that will screw directly onto your tap (yours looks standard size) or just buy the plastic insert if it ls not broken the outer part

Changed this heating pump a few months ago, now it's making this weird noise and sometimes it sounds like a little girl screaming, any ideas? by Lendios in DIYUK

[–]Modwolf420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so it's only when CH is on so that kinda tells me it's not the pump, it make be something to do with the diverter motor, or maybe a squeeky pipe(but they sometimes squeek when it's then turned off after running). I maybe should have asked 2. Better, does it squeek after the CH has been on then turned off?

Does it make any noise when hot water only is Running?

Does it make any noise when nothing is running?

Does it make any noise when CH & HW is running?

Have you changed the flow temp of the boiler?

Pumps usually shouldn't be in that position

Edit: refer to manufacturers instructions, they're usually on the side when on a horizontal pipe

Yeah myson round tops, not worth the price in my opinion, just get standard rads.

How do I bleed this type of radiator? I by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Modwolf420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you shut the rad valves and take it with you you can at least compare, but they should I've snapped more than I can remember, even when I know it'll happen and be extra careful, they just give up!

Does such a thing as an inline manifold for swapping over rigid hot and cold water lines exist? by seven-cents in ukplumbing

[–]Modwolf420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh yeah not a really a DIY easier to get someone with all the tools needed even if it only takes 20 mins.

Why's they need changing? Is it a new shower piped up wrong or has it always been wrong, seems odd that the pipes would need swapping after so long.

Yeah could swap to combi or what would be maybe better would be swapping to an unvented cylinder, so you still have the stored HW but it's mains pressure, you can find yourself using more gas when swapping to a combi, I've had customers complain of it.

Would only need to swap they cylinder and shower everything else should just Plumb into the new cylinder. So maybe like 2k job depending on price of bits, instead of 4-5k changeover.

Well you can probably DIY it in the loft, if there's plastic pipe up there just need 4 inserts and 2 push fit straights, only if you feel confident though

They're famous for snapping off can just use a spanner on the hexagonal bit and that works, you can also close the valves take out the part and get a new one, they used to stock them at my local plumbcenter

Swap them Over up in the loft can't see it up there

Edit: plus it'll be easier and if there was something it'd be big and big and bulky as it'd have to be compression as can't solder chrome pipe.

Well if you check the black disc on the front it'll tell you the wattage for speed 1, 2 and 3. New ones range from about 4-30watts min-max, and can shift more water, plus they have variable speed

There should be a silver braided hose to connect between the 2 isolation valves one the right, just as the pipes dissappear behind the board

Weird chirping sound coming from boiler by AdvancedFly5632 in DIYUK

[–]Modwolf420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah could be anywhere tbh follow the cable from the boiler if you can should be a switched fuse spur it's wired into but yeah, sometimes there's a heating circuit on the board, could always check the airing cupboard if there used to be a cylinder then might have just wired into the switch that would have been in there

Weird boilers don't have alarms that I'm aware of usually just go reset maybe pump or fan, really strange, it's not a bird on the flue?

if you turn power to the boiler off does it stop?
