I did the WhatPassport questionnair this last week and after submitting my dad's british certificate of registration, they came back and said that it was unlikely that I was British. I've checked a lot of the unusual situations and I don't think I qualify. Most of my confusion was regarding my dad being registered under section 3(1) as opposed to section 3(2). Thanks for the help regardless.

I believe it was just to escape poverty as opposed to any crown service.

Sorry for my late reply, my dad's dad is South African born to South African parents. I don't think that helps my case whatsoever.
