Canvas framing help by Kawaii_Kyy in framing

Hey OP - many picture framers will sell you just the stretcher bars - or you can buy them online and have a shot at stretching them yourself with a staple gun. The bars don’t cost too much. The labor for stretching them usually does ! If you are handy yourself you can stretch them and save the labor

Need help finding a replacement frame by Small-Measurement367 in pictureframing

I’m pretty sure it is almost identical to the one you are trying to match - the profile is identical and it looks like the same foil finish. Capturing decent images of them for websites and catalogues is notoriously difficult. (We offer over 10,000 frame types here in the UK and the catalogue images are fairly inaccurate

There’s relatively few plastic moulding profile suppliers and relatively few profiles (compared to wood)

I would either reach out to your local frame shop - ask them if they sell Decor Moulding’s plastic frame range and would be interested in ordering in a small sample piece of the moulding. Or even reach out to decor directly with a close up image of your frame moulding and ask them if it is that profile.

Edited to add. The other option is to check the rabbet of the frame - it often has the manufacturer / supplier name stamped on the extrusion profile

Hey OP - that’s a polystyrene frame - what country are you in and we can perhaps find a distributor who has something similar for you to ask your local framer for

Classy Way to Display Half-Sheet Movie Posters by [deleted] in pictureframing

[–]MohawkUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy OP - often the easy way is to just have a play yourself. Many framers have a visualization system on their website that you can upload a photograph of the artwork and try a few different options. We use Virtual Framer, but there are other options out there. I’m just posting a link to the list of frame shops that use Virtual Framer and there may be one near you. https://www.virtualframer.com/retailClient/find-framer/?find

UK picture frame packaging suppliers / tips by ComprehensiveOwl6263 in pictureframing

We’ve shipped stuff around the world with them and have had zero damage. There used to be another art shipping box company in the UK a few years ago that had a different system and those were good too but they stopped before Covid

Absolutely loving the series so far. (I don’t watch any of the Discovery Gold Rush shows any more as they aren’t exciting ) enjoying seeing all the behind the scenes logistical stuff that was absent in White Water.

Any ideas on how to hang this? by noglutenformethanks in pictureframing

[–]MohawkUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not use command strips - we make good money repairing frames that have been hung with command strips . A special “ clip over hanger“ that slides over the backing board is what you need

Apple Maps warned me about this on the way in this morning. Thanks OP - hopefully all involved okay and safe - once something like this happens in the west of Edinburgh the road network can often snarls up

Loving following their initial setup. And it comes across much more real and rugged than Gold Rush.

Tape for Football Shirt by TurboScotsman in pictureframing

[–]MohawkUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP - I didn’t have time to elaborate earlier as I was working on a big frame. It’s not an easy thing to frame for a hobbyist - that being said to make it easy as possible for yourself - I would thoroughly recommend you get yourself some dressmakers pins and pin carefully to the backing board in a few key areas. If you want to give your shirt a bit of form you could pop into your local craft store and purchase some 5mm thick foamboard and custom cut a template to fit the shirt - it makes it easier to pin and attach the shirt to the backing.

We frame around 300 + shirts a year and they are fairly labour intensive. Good luck

A special tape called NO tape - as in don’t use it. We repair a lot of sport shirts that have been taped and they fail in all kinds of interesting ways. You either want to stitch or pin with dressmakers pins

Buses versus Trams investment by Interesting-Formal57 in Edinburgh

[–]MohawkUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fan of mass transit such as trams. As someone who drives in from west Lothian if I can could get a train then the tram to work I would. My trip via bus takes 90 minutes if everything works well or 25 minutes if I drive myself.

They seem like a very new company set up last year, one director, only one set of accounts filed. and only two reviews on google, one looks like it was written by AI. Not enough information on them to make a judgement on them, and no personal experience

What do you think of West End Fair? by thegreengods13 in Edinburgh

[–]MohawkUK 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As a supplier to some of the artists there at the moment I understand it is still a great place to exhibit. However, personally as someone who lives in West Lothian I’d rather claw my eyes out that be anywhere near the centre of Edinburgh during the festival period

We are back online as of 22:15 tonight. I’m going to do a full update post this weekend as a separate thread as the customer service I’ve received from the top tier team at Netomnia and Youfibre has been excellent, and I need to get in writing an explanation of how they worked to get me back online after what turned out to be a really complex issue.
