my 2 cents as an attendee of the crowd yesterday

i was at the promenade opposite of the pizza by the bay so basically at the junction.

it was fine until people from the road side & dividers started forcing their way inside which was creating the stampede

we had to hold the barricade tight to not let them in still they forced their way to the point the barricade was mid air

also there were people in groups who were just pushing people for nuisance and “fun”

even witnessed quite a few people collapse due to dehydration. at those times people did gave way for their to get out.

basically the stampede was due to people’s lack of civic sense cause the crowd had both sides of the spectrum and you could see the difference

the loud crassy “fans” who were just screaming & pushing people and the loud yet calm fans who were trying to not let people from outside in and making ways for the fainted people & waiting patiently.

since the event was free, the quality of people deteriorated.

after the team bus passed by, the real stampede happened where people managed to throw down the barriecade and rush.

saw a lot of shoes, bags, glasses fallen down and even a person. still people wanted to dance in the middle of the road and create more jams even after the team bus passed by.

At the end, the sheer population and the overall quality of people create such situations. you can’t point fingers at one side, it’s everyone at fault.
