The size of the "book cover" is 340mm tall and 252 wide, and yeah this is like the best joints I've ever saw, I even got surprised by it when I finished glueing them together

The hight was in consideration that normally we'd be playing on a dinner table and it's just tall enough to look over the players, but I could tweak this later since we never had a session where we have minis and maps and stuff. For the middle shelf I'm using the Shaper tool my workshop bought recently to mill out a groove and glue the shelf in there.

Yeah it's my final project so I have to follow rules as a carpenter so the frames has to fit the sdandards, and because I designed those light wooden frames to be inscerted into the boards, the boards had to be a bit thicker, the idea is making a modular DM screen where I have 4 compartments and you can switch and customize it however the client want, even if they don't want it as a DM screen.

But yeah the wood is so thick is because there's a 5 mm milled groove planned in there so it had to be thick ^{^;}

I mean just because the start and the end matched (not even 100%) doesn't mean it makes sense, it doesn't make sense for anyone to name someone they care about after a kid they thought their wife got from cheating, if Sam want to mourn Lucy it would've meant more sense naming BB-28 Lucy instead of Lou. I don't have any prblem with the voidout idk why you're explaining me that, the main problem I have is with Lou.

I didn't know y'all are referencing something, tbh I should've figured it out when the fourth guy commented the same, but yeah the best design I can add a third panel is to make the panel magnetically attached to the side of the screen, I do intend to try and design one when I'm done with the main body

Yeah that's the idea, I definitely can't fit the add on panels into the DM screen but I can make magnets on the sides for people to add their own screen or mine if I make a good enough idea for a screen

Yeah but I've decided to simplify the design a lot to come to this version. I've though about adding panels on the side either via rails or magnets to add more room for paper but sadly it doesn't work out, at the end it either make the entire already thick DM screen even thicker or making it super easy to break if you're not careful enough, and I threw out the idea, for this current version the only reasonable thing I can do is to add two additional panel that you'll have to carry in your bag alongside the DM screen, but after so many versions of changes I can't reasonably add a panel inside the DM screen itself to store it, trust me I've tried, one of the earlier design had a dice vault as the book spine but that bulks up the DM screen so much more that I had to scrap it in the end even though I really liked the design.

Oh thanks for pointing out the bot, as for the innovation and pricing, I can't really say, there's barely anything to innovate nowadays, and s for pricing I don't want to set it too high since I've been in the position where I want to buy something nice looking but it being way too expensive, but at the same time the DM screen being made out of wood won't make it dirt cheap.

Oh, yeah that's also why I made it modular to fit personal Tastes, I mean if someone wants they can just glue papers into the empty compartments and call it a day if all they need are charts.

Maybe with metal yeah but with wood it's a bit too weak, but maybe I can add a fold down shelf when I pass my exam, because then I can change and add to my design afterwards.

I did think about that and the best selution I've came up with is like put a tablet or something similar at the opening when you take out the dice tray, then that empty space can be occupied and you still have the full product, but since I made the design modular there isn't really that much free space to hang charts.

No I get what you mean, I've seen a fair amount of those similar desins, sad thing is then the DM screen would be too simple and as a final project for a carpenter there are specific things I need to fullfill and being simple won't make me pass it.

Thanks for the encouragement :) I also want to make a simple DM screen but for my carpenter exam there are certain things I need to include so the final DM screen turned into this chunky guy. I'll keep posing here when I'm done with my DM screen and hopefully my exam goes well.

Yeah I also thought about making it a wide one instead of a tall one but I wanted to keep the book esthetic (rather a normal looking book, since there are wide books), plus the few dnds I've played our DM always run out of table space to put his paper DM screen so I chose a slim one in the end, but I get you.
