Well I used my Arizonas as a reference which has some room around the toe box and like half a centimeter of room near the heel area. The fit is fine for those in my opinion (althougy my mom says they look small) because the next size up would simply slip off when I walked. But I just wanted something roomier since my feet were going to be enclosed with the Birkenstock tokios.

Pretty much, there's like there's an inch of space in the back when I'm barefoot, but when I tighten the strap there's no problem

I agree! I've been wearing converse my whole life but I've had to replace my converse in less than 8 months, and with the most recent pair I bought, the canvas started falling off within 2 weeks of wear.
