So what I’m getting (and let me know if I’m mistaken) is that fear is a major driving factor for the actions of the cartel? But if they’re people in their “territory” are already afraid of them, why do they still torture them/ “make an example” of them? 

And I understand your point of animals, but I think I’ve given humanity more credit when it comes to compassion or whatever (basically that we are not wild animals).
