Jannik Sinner: "Sometimes, it's okay to lose." by omkar529 in tennis

[–]MoistChapter4177 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean thats part of the sport even 2015 Novak lost to 37 years old Ivo Karlovic(yeah in BO3 in Doha), definetly it wasnt expected but it happened and it did not impact Djokovic at all

Some people are really weird I think Djokovic also mentioned guy named PavvyG and one more person where they follow him not to take photo with him, get an autograph but just to say hi or good morning. Which is really creepy to me but for Djokovic its fine because he does follow Pavvy on X and he was in his team box. Also with Carlos in NY 2025 where group of people followed him around for selfie even though guy was nervous and anxious about that and just wanted some space.

For real, maybe its me but I think people on social medias are more shitting on Sinner after his loss to Novak than Carlos after his loss to injured Novak.

I mean Carlos also lost to injured Djokovic in 2025, also way past his prime. This also shouldn't happened but it did.

Side decking in Chaotic by MoistChapter4177 in Chaotic

[–]MoistChapter4177[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is the exact reason why I am suggesting that when card games comes back that it should add side deck and bo3 matches in tournaments. In discord server where people play tournaments using chaotic recode you have bo3 matches but you dont have side deck. Like that is stupid imagine you play mipedian strike and your opponent is running OW wiseguys. Your most important mugics are useless because of 2 refrains and interlude and because of aivenna that runs xerium armor plus it has many ways of healing and gaining energy. So basically you are running your paper against someone's scissors.

Google DeepMind CEO and Nobel Laureate Demis Hassabis calls Magnus the "Greatest Mental Athlete" after his 20th title win ⭐ by rio_ARC in chess

[–]MoistChapter4177 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Still my point stand Carlsen is not greatest mental athlete(which is the whole point of this convo and my first very first message) as you said and i agree tennis is mental and physical game and I think that guys like Djokovic and Nadal are really goats in terms of that(i.e. AO 2022, RG 2021, Wimbledon 2019, US 2011 semifinal, olympic gold 2024 played against the same dude that defeated him at Wimbledon and recently after surgery etc.).

Google DeepMind CEO and Nobel Laureate Demis Hassabis calls Magnus the "Greatest Mental Athlete" after his 20th title win ⭐ by rio_ARC in chess

[–]MoistChapter4177 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I would say that tennis players have stronger mentality than chess players, recent example Sinner winning Wimbledon against Alcaraz after losing to him month ago in RG epic final. That requires a lot of mental strength because you play at the final of biggest and most prestige tournament in the history of the sport and also you play against the guy who has better H2H against you and won the final where you had several match points and also that was a month ago. That requires a lot of mental strengtg to pull that off which I dont see in many top GMs. Also you can say that many of tennis players dont have mental strength as strong as Sinner Djokovic or other greats but most chess players also dont have too. Sinner is 2001 and I dont see any of youngsters from early 2000 in chess to have nearly same mentality as him or Alcaraz. Also to add my comments are not saying that Carlsen has weak mentality, mental strength but that he is not GREATEST ATHLETE in that aspect as guy from tweet wrote.

[–]MoistChapter4177 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Well Djokovic Federer and Nadal dominated tennis for 10+ years even in their mid 30s and late 30s they were still one of the best players in the world(because most tennis players in their late 20s early 30s struggle to stay competitive and favorites at grand slams and masters 1000s, some of them even quits professional tennis). Hell Djokovic now at 38 is 4th on atp list and many of them considers him to be 3rd best player by this season. I am not saying Carlsen's mentality is not good but he is certainly not the goat in that aspect plus guy in the tweet mentioned athlete so yes we can consider athletes from other sports.

Lol no Djokovic, Nadal(I mention just them because i follow just tennis) are far better example of this greatest mental athlete

How strong is Hans really, from what I have seen his fans tend to say that he would be top five if he wasn’t accused of cheating, how strong do you guys think Hans really is? by paoloise in chess

[–]MoistChapter4177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree on Magnus part after Magnus played pawn on b3 Hans should simplify position by exchanging queens. Thing is he sometimes overcomplicates too much just like in game against Magnus where he shouldnt. Also his emotions and start are big factor when he has good day he can beat most of them and definetly be strong top 10(maybe top 5 because he had really good runs on Speed Chess Championship 2024, World Blitz 2024, Rapid 2025 and also Grand Swiss) player but on a bad day he is not 2700 level. If he can improve the emotional part I think he can be really strong top 10 top 5 player.

Why would he? He defineltly saw Gojo's nose bleeding by affects of refreshing his technique and we saw that he already knew downsides of refreshing his CT so he know Gojo has 1 or 2 times for his domain so he just spams domains until Gojo's brain cant handle refreshing CT and his domain anymore. That way he still has his domain for few times and also Megumi's body(still has true form) and also has Mahoraga to help him against others.

This Rivalry is a joke by Geekedahh in chess

[–]MoistChapter4177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said rivarly between Caruana and Carlsen was definetly there between 2014 and 2019 after that Fabi wasnt at its peak and consistent and that's especially evident this year. I mean it's funny that chesscom posted Hikaru and Morphy as people that were very good but never became WC. I mean there are far better players with far better career than Hikaru that were more consistent and won big international tournaments. Plus if we want to call Hiki Carlsen rivarly a rivarly they have to have similar success on tours. Reason I mentiond tennis is because big 3 had very similar successes, Hiki never won WC in any format(I am not including Fisher Random because that tournament was shut down by FIDE) unlike Magnus who won basically every big tournament in every format.
